Because books.

Oh Bev, that's a lot. Healing vibes to B., and big hugs and love for you.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Big thoughts and hugs to B, Bev.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I’m starting my day with coffee to hand and a purring cat on my lap, which is a nice beginning.

Hear me out....Maybe that could be the WHOLE day.

Matilda was rushing around this morning getting ready for school and then said something that I feel is oddly iconic for her generational cohort: "Alison is stopping by on her way to school to trim her false eyelashes because they're too long."

Today's question: Is David going to rouse himself to go running this morning (grey and dreary day, rain coming)? Stay tuned.

Hmm. Is anybody ever really "tuned" anymore? I do remember spending a fair amount of my childhood carefully turning the radio knob in nanometer increments to tune into distant radio stations.

That was before-times. Analog life.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I asked Matilda and Alison. They knew the phrase "stay tuned" but had no idea it referred to something real in the world.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Bev, yikes! That is too much things.

I am having a day where everything on my to-do list is boring and stupid and I don't wanna. Also, my boss scheduled a "watch together" conference call for us all to hang out and watch the global all-hands, which I guess means I have to actually watch the global all-hands? Which I also don't wanna?

(The team I'm on has no sense of humor about the level of corporate bullshit we are surrounded by. I desperately need to get back on a team with a more appropriate level of snark and eye-rolling.)

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

{{{Bev}}} recovery~ma for DH and best wishes for that whole tire situation. Yikes.

I have pretty much forgotten how to do work, so that's making for an interesting day. Fortunately I have already had my one scheduled meeting and it was a breeze so I should be able to languish more or less privately the rest of the day

Oh that would be really hard. Yikes. I would be ALL FOR a team watch of corporate bullshit if we were all rolling our eyes at the BS and speculating on the actual info being provided....but not if we're supposed to be SERIOUS about it!

Our wings are not tired

I've been following all the things here and I just want to send support to everyone that needs it. On my end I'm overwhelmed with life, work, and anxiety so I keep finding myself at a loss for something to say here, but I am always thinking of you all and want the best for all of you.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Bev, holy shit, those are too many things.

Thanks for the wishes for my dad. He was doing better, then this morning woke up confused and unable to see for a while. We're trying to convince my dad to go back to the ER to get him on oxygen before his doctor's appointment tomorrow, but I'm not sure we're going to succeed.

I'm also talking my sister through a bit of a separate crisis. And I'm On Call. And work is being both insane and stupid.

Anyway. Deep breaths. I can get through this, but I'm just saying that I would prefer not to.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Bev, that is a lot of complicated shit! I hope your husband gets home easily and has a really uneventful recovery!

Thanks for the wishes for my dad. He was doing better, then this morning woke up confused and unable to see for a while. We're trying to convince my dad to go back to the ER to get him on oxygen before his doctor's appointment tomorrow, but I'm not sure we're going to succeed.

Dad of Shrift: sir, you couldn't see out your eyeballs this morning! Get the oxygen and spare your family that amount of stress!

I can get through this, but I'm just saying that I would prefer not to.

I feel that. We need to get a referral to a psychiatrist for my dad (or take him to the psych ER), because he's still having the hallucinations AND he believes that aliens* have revealed secrets only to him because he's the only one worthy (which he only told my brother, not me — I don't know to ask about his delusions if he's never mentioned them before, and he's never mentioned being Earth's contact point for the aliens).

Also, my 65-year-old stepdad is worried that my 77-year-old mom is having some cognitive/memory issues because she takes a benzo every night to sleep. And that probably is a contributing factor, but also, she's 77 years old. There's just going to be some cognitive/memory issues as a part of age.

*(If the aliens talking to my dad are the hot aliens from Roswell, and he hasn't told me, there will be a reckoning. That's the kind of thing you tell your daughter about!)
