they want me to send a check like I'm a godddamn Fuller Brush Salesman in 1951.
So retro!
Tim has jury duty this week (today is day 1, obviously), and he's already been called for voir dire. He is VERY excited about it. If he gets seated on a jury and it goes to trial, I guarantee he'll be the jury foreman. He'll also have 11 new best friends.
WTF mortgage company! My mortgage has been sold several times so I've dealt with paying a bunch of lenders through different systems but none of them required an actual check. Dark ages, man.
Mmmm, brownies.
Stoppid clients are stoopid.
I had to attend a Webex training I had already attended at my previous position and which did not address the specific issue that had recently been raised which prompted this training in the first place. I had to jump in and give the info on the scenario that was an issue. Waste of time.
My mortgage just got sold to another company, so I'm crossing my fingers their online payment system is up to par. I made my February payment to the current company while I could, along with a fun surprise escrow shortage they sprang on me the same day as the switch. (Hello, year end bonus... goodbye, year end bonus.)
they want me to send a check
Certified mail with signature receipt. And demand reimbursement for the expense.

Man, the property values in our county have been reassessed and they have skyrocketed, which means property taxes have shot up. Lots of people's taxes -- including ours -- doubled.
And since property assessments are public record on the auditor's website, it's really easy to check anyone's property value, and a lot of county officials (including the county auditor) did not experience such a huge increase, which may just be a coincidence, but seems sketchy as hell.
I learned all that from a Facebook group of people who are pissed about the new assessments/taxes and are planning to take it up with county commission. I'll be curious to see how it goes.
That would be very interesting/suspicious if everybody else’s assessments went up but not theirs! Good thing sleuths are on it!
I am dealing with people who do not want to do their jobs. Which I totally get, but I do not want to do their jobs FOR THEM either….yet when I say “hi I flipped through the document and it literally took me six minutes to find four of these please find the remaining 19” they respond with “I don’t understand how you did that I searched for 20 minutes and then I looked for 20 more minutes” y’all. Y’ALL. I did the mysterious thing called “FLIPPING THROUGH EACH PAGE QUICKLY LOOKING FOR THAT NUMBER, yes there are 60 pages in the document but there are 1-4 lines per page it’s not that time consuming to glance at a page and see if the number is on that page or not omg wtf”
My day seems to be a lot of contacting people to say, this task is with you, can you do your part so I can then do mine?
Oh, those are my least favorite tasks, reminding people to do their jobs. Reason #1 why I do not want to be a manager, and even so I still sometimes get faced with it. Hasn't come up for me today, knock on wood (in one of our recent team huddles my boss said it looked like something would happen and I knocked on his desk and my coworker said "that's not wood" so that's our team dynamic)
