Angel: He is dead. Technically, he's undead. It's a zombie. Connor: What's a zombie? Angel: It's an undead thing. Connor: Like you? Angel: No, zombies are slow-moving, dimwitted things that crave human flesh. Connor: Like you. Angel: No! It's different. Trust me.

My glucose was 100 for my checkup last week, too!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Now I want to go check mine! I had a similar uptick numbers at the beginning of 2023 where both my A1c and my cholesterol were creeping up which had never been an issue for me before. In June, I started doing a reduced carb, multiple meals (ok “meals”) a day diet thing which has helped both those things as well as breaking me out of some really unhealthy habits. Down 60-some pounds now too.

Copycat! Or, I guess *I'm* the copycat, since your checkup was last week and my ER adventure was Tuesday. Go Team 100 mg/dL Glucose Level! (I think we need a better team name.)

Wait, there's fasting glucose, where normal is 100 or less, and then there's random (non-fasting) glucose, where normal is 180 or less. Mine was non-fasting, which was why I was so surprised it was 100, because that's way below the cutoff. I assumed that since I'm 52 and have a sweet tooth that it would be higher. But I've been doing 30 minutes on the bike 4-5 times a week, and I think that definitely helps.

After I got my lab results last week, where all the results were basically "needs more exercise", I went and bought a rowing machine. I did 5 minutes the first day on Saturday, and worked my way up to 15 minutes yesterday. I think I'll stop increasing when I get to 20 minutes and dial in my strokes/minute. I'm not feeling particularly sore so far, so that's good.

Rowing is hardcore, man. Because it uses everything, unlike a bike or treadmill.

Woot! Great job!

That's a daunting list of issues, Laura. The good news is that they're pretty good at repairing hips and knees nowadays. So increased mobility and ease of pain are in your future.

I have no idea what my glucose is. But all the holiday weight I'd diligently whittled off came back with the slew of visitors and eating out over the last two weeks. Because entertaining guests basically replicates the diet-rules-suspended atmosphere of the holidays. Oh well, resetting for February.

All the rain has messed with my running schedule too, so I'm eager to catch up in the dry spells.

EM is coming over this morning, to assist with some housework and plow through some paperwork.

Rainy, gloomy day here. I have a doc appt downtown at 3p. The pain did not so much get as better as I thought it had. Grr.

Boo! I would like much less pain for me friends entirely!

EM has rescheduled for Monday which means I can go running this morning but also I'm going to have to deal with this shit myself. Bother.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

I miss rowing, but my knees won't hold up to it these days. Ditto running. (My knees were always fairly shitty because genetics, but at least when I rowed crew in high school I had the benefit of being 17 and in shape. I am...no longer either of those things.)
