Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

That's not working ... and, looking through, there's one page that has one not very tall row on the page. It's set to allow rows to break across pages, although some of the rows would fit nicely. There aren't section or page breaks ... it's driving me bonkers trying to figure out what's going on. I suspect that SOMEONE did something arcane with it.

Thanks for the advice ... I'll keep looking.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

{{{Hil}}} I can understand why you would be burnt out already just because everything is so hard on top of teaching challenges. And I hear you on the house - wanting help with cleaning but not wanting anyone to see the mess is a common problem! The COVID safety issues sure don't help.

Best wishes for Casper's friend, I hope being inpatient will help her.

Good luck, Toddson, wish I could help with that but Word is not my area of expertise at all.

I am pleased that I am using my MBA this morning, sort of. More in attitude that I picked up in my Managerial Accounting class than anything else, but it still makes me feel better about still paying off my student loans.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I suspect that SOMEONE did something arcane with it.

Probably entirely true. Check the properties for each row and see if someone has specified the row height and forced it to be something really big?

How is it only Wednesday?

Am I really expected to work everyday?

Why? (this is about everything, not just work)

Sending good thoughts for Casper's friend, flea.

Hil, I totally get the not wanting strangers to see my messy house thing. I had a couple of "no choice; thing has to be fixed" incidents in the past that forced me to deal, but it is a pain. In terms of where to find someone if you decide to, I've used Task Rabbit before for decent rates, but again, with Covid, etc. that's a not an inconsequential decision.

Sorry and good luck, Toddson. That stuff is so frustrating.

I've started doing some PT admin. work for a friend's 501(c)(3). I need to learn how to be social media manager now. OK!

Completely random: My DP hates the CAPS LOCK key and always disables or repurposes it, and I'm using a keyboard now that he used most recently, and it's really annoying. I should figure out how to fix it.

The school situation is overwhelming to me, and I don't even have kids. I have so much empathy for all involved.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The frustrating thing with SFUSD is that I know the City and the State are pushing to get teachers vaxed in February, but there's NO plan to going to a hybrid model in March. They haven't communicated anything to us.

We're not just missing this school year, we're rolling up on a calendar year without in person school. And it's clear that district and Teacher's union are stalling out this year and aiming for Fall 2021 reopening. Which will be 18 months of no in-person teaching!

Even Mayor London Breed, who's literally been the most cautious mayor in the country about COVID, is frustrated with the District. This fall when we were in the safest tier for 6-8 weeks they never even twitched about re-opening. And that would have made a huge difference for Matilda. She's attending an online school where she literally only knows one other student.

Our wings are not tired

From a teaching perspective truly going hybrid effectively means hiring more teachers. In a full remote setting there is the possibility for asynchronous teaching and not just lecture time over Zoom. That type of model becomes exponentially more complex when an portion of the class will be remote and a portion in person, and then again more complex when there is the possibility that the population of each of those sets can change in an uncontrolled and unpredictable manner, and then again more complex when the teacher could also be pushed to remote due to Covid exposure that causes a need for isolation. While hybrid sounds workable on paper, it's places an even larger burden on the teacher who has already had to completely re-design curriculum and teaching style on the fly. I live with a teach and I watch her work from 8 am to at least 8 PM every day, and that includes almost every weekend. In a hybrid situation the next thing she'll have to give up is sleep, and she will also be adding a commute back into the mix, and she's at a well supported private school. I completely see why teacher unions are pushing back HARD on this. To do remote/hybrid/changed classrooms and not grind teachers to dust school districts would need to double the number of teachers they have in their employ.
