It wasn't a medical crisis, but a crisis situation that landed him in the hospital is how we got my father into the nursing home. Both because it made the transition easier ("easier") on him, but also because it's easier to get a slot when you are coming from the hospital vs. from home.
This was true with Tim's dad, too.
I'm so sorry about Magellan, lisah.
Fingers crossed for your dad, Pix.
The Year of Cancer had to get one last kick in at my family on its way out the door—my Mom's first post-surgery check up showed that hers has returned for round three. Merry Fucking Christmas. Though at least it's still Stage 1 and theoretically still non-invasive. She's having her next surgery in 10 days, and I assume they'll follow up with some sort of chemo (though her doctor refuses to use that word). Any health~ma for her would be greatly appreciated.
Oh, Matt. All the health-ma her way for smooth surgery and recovery.
Hang in there, Pix. This is so hard to think about, but if he's going to have to live with more support soon, you might think about not trying to get him back home. Yeah, the issues with this are his dog and the financial impact. It's pretty complex. If we move him now, it's a much harder path on a lot of levels.
Matt, I'm so sorry to hear that. Dammit.
I'm sorry, Matt. It sounds like it was detected early. Much ~ma for uneventful surgery and recovery.
Much health~ma to Matt's mom.
Healing thoughts toward your mom, Matt!!
Random thoughts that roll around when trying to get to sleep. I am looking forward to it being 2024 rather than 2023 because the numbers are more lyrical to my mind, trip off the tongue more fluidly. Nice round numbers. Yeah, I know, but that is how it feels to me.
Next random thought, do most people act out what they are reading? When the character shakes their head or points their finger, or smiles, do you parrot that behavior? Just me?
No wonder why I just don't fall asleep. Too many random thoughts.
Technically, I think tamoxifen might count as chemotherapy.(If it does, my mother did have it.)
I probably have done it, Laura.
Pix, I'm sorry you are going through this with your dad.
lisah, I'm sorry about Magellan. That is abrupt.
Losing our critters is so damn hard. It's been six months and last night I was crying again.
Matt, glad they caught it early. I hope there is quick and curative treatment.
