My brother got me a signed copy of Rachel Maddow's latest book

I got that for my stepdad (not signed, though).

Our Christmas dinner is plain rice with an egg cooked over-hard. Hopefully everything will behave.

That was the tastiest rice in the whole world.

We also watched Elf, and then read the Wikipedia article on porridge (we were trying to think of other bland food to eat, and got caught up in wondering if "porridge" is just another term for "oatmeal" [SPOILER: "porridge" does often mean "oatmeal," but the term also encompasses other boiled starches like grits, cream of wheat, etc]).

I know you're all jealous of how exciting our barfy Christmas is.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I have seen congee described as porridge. What about gruel, Tep?

Gruel and congee *are* considered porridge! At least, according to Wikipedia.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

We planned to watch Die Hard after dinner, but we're all wiped out. I'm already in my PJs on the couch.

It was a nice meal: traditional turkey dinner, with two very tasty tarts at the end: chocolate and lemon.

I gave up alcohol for the next 12 months, so a lot of my presents were mocktail-related.

I'm glad I have tomorrow off; I have a bunch of little errands to do and I have to call the dentist.

Our wings are not tired.

Today is a festive day in Buffista land! We can celebrate Jesse's birthday! May this birthday bring much joy, and may the year to come be filled with treats and delights.

Jesse shares her birthday with Theodosia and Rayne, whom I have not seen in a while, but I hope they are enjoying their day.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Happy birthday to Jesse!

I am also dreading work, Laura. Waiting outside right now in my car for COVID results; big part of me wishes it would be positive but it isn’t looking that way.

Yeah, you would think that being positive would mean a break, but not so much. Sending negative thoughts! I didn't get my positive result until after being sick for a couple days.

Well, my worries about not being able to support my new practice and train this week have been diminished. Shock and surprise - half the staff has Covid! I knew that was were I had to get it. Sigh. At least they won't be upset with me for not being there. DH went this morning to set up their fax server and is trying to get the hell out quickly. We've been good here keeping the windows all open and keeping each other at a distance.

I did go to the dog park a couple times, both times in the rain and at off hours. The park was empty. I washed up and masked for my brief time in the elevator, but didn't encounter anyone.
