I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

In between Marske, Wells, and Kingfisher all releasing books within, like, a week of each other, I’m overwhelmed with texty goodness.

Right? It’s been glorious! I hadn’t read Marske until now, I’m so glad I didn’t wait any longer!

I adore all you motherfuckers so much -- PMM.

Yeah, Ursula is definitely at least furry-adjacent; Digger was a full-on anthropomorphic epic webcomic before it was a graphic novel, and she has been wonderfully furry-supportive both at Further Confusion and at BayCon when I've seen her there. And Kevin (her husband) is a real sweetheart with a soft spot for all furry creatures and chickens everywhere.

Punishingly Intricate

Happy birthday, Consuela!!!

I’m making cookie swap cookies and working today. I can’t make a nice looking cookie to save my life. But I think they’ll be tasty? Shortbread cookies with cranberry curd.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

We got our various Christmas wreaths up yesterday evening -- it's a learning process post-back surgery for Tim to figure out what he can and can't do anymore. For instance, I had to bring the giant* wreath down from the attic, not because it's heavy, but because it's unwieldy and Tim doesn't want to risk a fall on the stairs (whereas I would presumably survive a fall with only my dignity injured -- though I didn't fall, so I don't know).

*(Giant wreath is made from thick industrial plastic that was in a child-sized MRI machine, so pretty dang big. It has loads of red and gold lights wrapped around it and is very pretty in the dark. And because it's so big, we don't really feel compelled to put up any other outdoor lights.)

Today, the goal is putting up and decorating the tree. Eggnog is ready to be deployed. If the tree is all up and decorated by the time I go to bed, I might keel over from shock. (Every year there's some kind of Christmas light-related problem Tim has to solve. And by "problem," I mean "sometimes I'm pretty sure some of the issues are just things he made up because he likes to tinker.")

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Happy Birthday, Consuela!

I've put up the hooks on my front porch ceiling for hanging Christmas lights today—just waiting for my spotter so I can attached the solar panel to my flag holder. It's the first time I've used a power drill on the house exterior, and I continue to be pleasantly surprised by how durable the building materials are—I was having no luck hammering in a tiny pilot nail by hand.
