seperate the yolk from the - um, is there another word for the "white" part of the egg?
Nope - the white/liquidy bit around the yolk is just called the "white."
Kids old enough to make breakfast is THE BEST.
I missed the butt-warmer discussion but would like to add a plug for heated STEERING WHEELs as maaaaaybe even better on cold winter mornings?
And really anyone else for whom it’s not a first language. English is just ridiculous!
Different words for different instruments and actions make sense to me. Phrasal verbs remain my nemesis in English. Generally I think that English grammar is much easier than Hebrew/Arabic grammar. Sure, we have three tenses only and no "progressive"/"perfect" forms, but I have no idea how anyone is expected to learn this as a second language: [link]
Honestly as someone who has a decent grasp of another language but absolutely far far less so than Nilly or Shir, it amazes me as well! It frustrates me that I would never be able to express myself in a second language as well as I can in English—sure I can absolutely make myself understood but getting the nuance of what people are saying? Never.
I am, like, weirdly impressed that Nilly's kids already know how to fold something in to something else.
Congratulations to Ethan! Wow!
Yes, very cool about Ethan's award.
I know I'm gonna forget stuff here, but let me try to catch up.
The extra Zooms are Town Halls with the PAC I work for(you all in Israel are not the only ones who deserve better, but we knew that.) They started as an outgrowth of both the pandemic and healthcare activism, taking a once-a-month healthcare meeting to weekly, on Sundays. Four(!) years in, we've had candidates and foreign policy people...all sorts of stuff. I think, initially, when asking me to all these extra things in addition to the phones, someone expected a real activist rather than somebody who wrote about TV all the time, but they got me. I'm getting more informed, now, of course, but I can still feel the gap.(Even when I'm not also trying to work out a plot problem in a story or something while listening. Which, sadly, is still the closest I get to Faith and "Because it's wrong," but it does sometimes work.)
Yeah, very impressed with Shir and Nilly's English. Sometimes when i feel like my Spanish is slipping, I practice with the TV, but I haven't used it with a live person for a while(Maybe on twitter, because that's where I could be a showboat.)ETA: It makes sense that they could import syrup, especially given that it's kind of a treat, but I guess I wondered if you had come up with something using Idk, dates or figs or something of that sort, I suppose.)
Popping in to say hello! And ask whether the card assignments gone out yet? I don’t see it and checked in spam and promotions, too. It’s fine if not, just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss it.
smonster, no, not yet! It's my plan to get them out tonight -- Matt had a glitch in the program he made to spit out the assignments, but he got it to me yesterday. I neglected to update my update!
