I'm so sorry Nora. My condolences to you and your family.
In other funerary news, my uncle's was a beautiful service, and his wife and kids all seem to be holding up well. I suppose the one good thing about his struggle was that it prepared them for the loss in advance. Even though the reason was awful, it was good to see so many relatives again, including a couple of cousins I last saw when their high school-age kids were toddlers.
I'm also happy to report that we didn't have to ask the funeral home for an extra coffin despite my mother's fear coming true about my aunt chattering at her without pause for the entire 4+ hour drive up.
{{{ Nora }}} I'm so sorry.
Nora, I’m so sorry for your loss.
Losing a parent is such a paradigm shift.

Yes it is. I am so sorry you have to experience this loss.

It sucks that you have to lose someone to have the funeral get-together because it is so comforting to spend time with loved ones you rarely see.

Jacqueline's memorial will be a good excuse for people to come and it should be a happier celebration of her.
I'm very intent on seeing All The Humans I Love with more regularity.
Nothing is given. Nothing is writ.
Ugh Nora, so sorry. I had a dream last night that I was at some Japanese store with cool cheap things and I realized they had a whole bunch of cool silverware and was thinking “ooh let me pick one and tell mom I want it for Christmas” and then I remembered she’s dead and dad can’t go shopping even if he was the sort who did, and I cried….in the dream. I woke up sad but not crying. Life is dumb sometimes.

Oof. Mortality is a stupid idea.
I don't know. Some people do our best work with a deadline.
It might be nice, though, if people knew they could what they wanted with say 85 years.
and if there wasn't so much time wasted on, like, tax returns and gingivitis. Zooms and credential theater.
