Timelies all!
Monday we got a call from school saying that Mr. S had wrapped a headphone cord around his neck, said he wasn’t happy and didn’t feel safe going with the nanny. I went to pick him up and take him to the crisis center. Gary met us there. While waiting to be seen, he complained of being bored and hungry. By the time they got to him he was too agitated for them to evaluate, and sent us to the ER.
He then had an epic meltdown that lasted all night. We left around 12:30 in the morning. We have been waiting for them to find a bed in a behavioral unit, which they did today. Gary went over to sign some paperwork and follow the ambulance to the unit. I don’t know how long he’ll be there. Sigh…
My mother-in-law passed away peacefully at home yesterday.
Thanks to everyone for their kind wishes and thoughts.
Wishes for comfort for your family, Karl.
Oh Sheryl, I am sorry that you are going through this. I wish there were something helpful I could say.
So sorry for your family’s loss, Karl.
My Dad’s been in inpatient rehab for a week and a half and the doctors there are not optimistic about his recovery. He’s having problems eating and drinking now in addition to not being able to put weight on his leg. My mom has been talking to hospice care about organizing transport back to their apartment and getting care there. Just hoping for easy transitions whatever that means at this point.
Oh, lisah. Will be thinking of you.
Oof, hard news for breakfast.
I'm sorry, Karl. May peace be with you and yours.
I'm sorry, lisah.
I guess part of aging into kaftans and supplements is tending to our elders and losing them.
Karl, I'm sorry. Much love to your & yours.
lisah, I'm sorry, too. Much love & strength to you.
Karl and lisah, I'm so sorry.
In (hopefully) less-serious Aged Parent news, my mom and stepdad (who are 77 and 65, respectively) managed to get Covid while they're on vacation in Italy. This is the first time they've gotten it, but they're vaxxed and boosted and so far they have headaches and fatigue, but that's all. Hopefully it stays that way and stays mild. They are both robustly healthy (my mom especially so, given her age), so they should be fine. Really sucks for their Italian vacation, though. They've only been there 6 days, and the trip was planned for 14 days.
