Hello loves. I'm sorry I keep forgetting to check in, but I think of everyone often, especially on days like this.
It was a lovely service and in such a beautiful space. The flowers were quite vibrant, and Pastor Bea was wonderful.
M, Peanut, & I picked Sylvie up & we all got to come in together & give hugs to Hec & Matilda & talk with Noise & -t & Lois. It was this little isle of Buffistadom. And then someone (named Walter) who used to watch Buffy with JZ IRL recognized Martin - turns out Walter lives in our neighborhood. Small city.

I'm done cried out for now. Matilda kept leaning over and saying things like, "You're doing really good, Daddy. I'm proud of you."
I was like, Girl don't run my parenting script on me.
It was good to hug all the Buffistae. Really appreciate Drew flying up for it, and Tamara driving.
I told my MiL that I picked the last song for her, and me and Jacqueline. But she was caught off guard when he played "Cast Your Fate On The Wind." A favorite that she had played endlessly around the house when Jacqueline was growing up, and always made her misty when I played it.
She came over to me and hugged me and whispered in my ear, "My baby girl is gone."
So, united in sorrow in that moment, at least.
Can't say I'm glad, exactly--it's too horrible, but, given that, I am.
Vince Guaraldi often makes me think of Jacqueline, but now I'll specifically associate that song with her.
I've been thinking of you all day, David, and hope you get to rest tomorrow.
I was driving most of the day, but I watched the service after the fact when I got to my vacation rental in NE Georgia this evening. So beautiful and so fitting, and I completely agree with everyone about the wonderfulness of Pastor Bea.

That would be nice but I have to meet with Tennessee Dave at 8am, the guy who fixed our curved windows. A sash line needs repair so homeownership precedes rest.
After that, however, I can go back to bed. Though really I need to get back to my running routine, which has been off since I had the stitches in my forehead. (No scarring btw!)

Pastor Bea is who drew Jacqueline to this church. JZ found her online sermons. Pastor Bea is somebody that Jacqueline had been wanting for a long time: A woman religious leader speaking about faith in terms which were entirely aligned with Jacqueline's own.
As Jacqueline understood Christ's radical message of love she saw that expressed in this church's actions.

I could swear I recognized him from the time JZ, Emily, myself, & someone else went to see him & friends at Edinburgh Castle to sing sea shanties.

I was so happy to receive those hugs in person.

I think Pastor Bea was also looking for a JZ, which made this service very personal. I so appreciated how inclusive everything was, and also really explanatory (yes you can take communion even if you aren’t Lutheran, which is always a question I have). I also loved little glimpses of tech guy running around.
