Migraines can definitely be very weather related.

I don’t usually watch hardly any tv but am visiting my sister and they keep the tv on the news all day and night. It’s been a lot…I can’t even imagine living through it.

Our wings are not tired.

Buffista hivemind! Later this month (20-22) I am going to Salem with DH, my son, and GF. It is a farewell excursion. On the way home we will drop Brendon off at Logan to head to Florida, and I will follow somewhere around the end of the month with the animals. We are actually staying at an Airbnb in NH because the rates closer to Salem are crazy making—also the advantage of a full kitchen to cut down on eating out.

Lana (GF) has sent me links to various tours, but I am sure some of you have been there and might have some recommendations. In particular, they are both avid readers and will want to stop at a bookstore. But ya know, touristy tours are always family fun.

Any ideas will be appreciated. We may even go to Boston and do the aquarium thing on Sunday because DH will be staying in a Boston hotel Sunday night before his super early flight on Monday.

I used to do that, but news burnout is real. Now if we have background noise it is HGTV or old syndicated series that we don't have to pay attention to, like Star Trek and such.

I like being on the east coast for work purposes—I can start at 9am and still have time to catch up on emails before all my meetings start—but dislike for my goofing off purposes—I’m used to message boards and news sites having lots of new content by the time I log on in the morning!

I'm pretty used to running out of Internets between 10am-12pm every weekday.

I'm going to see Werner Herzog speak tonight!

Yeah I think partly it’s that usually there’s been more posting from the east coast but also that I’m usually busier in the morning and don’t have as much time to read the internet before I have to start work. The combo is leaving me feeling like I’m forgetting to check some important interesting corner of the internet every morning!

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

My BIL and SIL just left after a very unsuccessful visit, so I'm enjoying the quiet. Until my 3-hour block of meetings starts in half an hour.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oooh, Tom, that should be good!

My three hours of meetings are spread out over the day today rather than being back to back. I appreciate the breaks. And I don't expect to really contribute to any of them. Now I just have to figure out how to do actual work in the time between meetings...

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

My BIL and SIL just left after a very unsuccessful visit, so I'm enjoying the quiet.

Oof, I know that drill.

JZ's mom, Sunny, and her brother Chris, and BiL, TJ are all coming down for the funeral service on Sunday. But thankfully they're leaving Monday night, so I will be able to exhale for a bit.

Last night was nice. JZ's bestie, Lisa, came by to scan some documents but also just go out to dinner with me. Hadn't seen her in a month, so she still had some tears to shed when I was showing her the framed pictures to go on the altar.

Lots of people have made a point of reaching out to me so I'm not dangling in widower-land. I appreciate it.

My morning routine isn't exactly three times as much feeding three teens breakfast and lunch, but it's definitely more.

Going to try to meet with the school counselor and social worker this week to see if we can find an easy transition for the girls.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

For me it's reruns of British gardening shows. They're generally soothing, and if I do look up at the tv, there's a decent chance I'll see some pretty plants.

I have next week off. I have vacation time that I need to use, my birthday's next week, and October in NC tends to be lovely. I figure I'll wander around my favorite places (botanical gardens, museums, etc.) and take myself out for fancy coffees. Sleep in as much as the cats will let me. Read books I've had in the to-be-read pile for a while. I have specific plans for my birthday (dinner and a play with friends), but surrounding that with rest days sounds delightful. Unfortunately my brain is saying, "Yes, rest, but why not now?" It'll be now eventually, brain.
