Sorry, Hec. That is totally unnecessary additional stress
I came in early so I could do a little non-meeting stuff first thing and now I'm leaving from catching up on the urgent things that came up while I was in meetings and while I am pleased that my job is more interesting these days (in the sense that I am interested in what I do, not that it's wildly unpredictable but I'm trying to be polite about it) I do not love that it is actually more work than it was when I was more bored. I assume i will get used to it eventually but right now I am pretty drained all the time.
Hivemind - have any of you heard of a 2:1 meeting referring to a second 1:1 for an employee? or a 1:1 with an employee's boss's boss?
That’s a skip level.
Hope the wait isn’t as long as it looks like it will be, David
I’m almost up to the second row! Very exciting development.
LOL I have never heard of a skip level, but then I left that world over a decade ago.
Rooting for you to get through, David. Travel sucks sometimes and it’s not fair that it is sucking on top of the super sucky reason.
And honestly, can go right to bed in it as well!
I don’t like how nightgowns tend to ruck up around my rib cage. Plus I tend to sleep au naturel these days.
Knit boxers rule. They make them for women now, I get lots of ads on fb. Woxer, TomboyX, etc.
Edit to change tuck back to ruck. Autocorrect definitely has not read enough fanfic.
2:1 meeting thing
Yeah, my boss just has her jargon wrong. she asked me to set up 2:1 with her and the two new chief hires, so I set up a meeting with both of them and her and she called me and said "no, not both of them a 2:1 is when it is their 2nd 1:1 since they already have one with their Deputy Director." No, no nonono crazypants wrongheaded lady.
Same boss has halted progress on my application for another job in the Department for stupid and petty sounding reasons, but unofficially and I only know from off-the-record back-channelling. Now I am applying for positions outside of our Department.
remember when traveling was exciting? Those were good times for traveling.
Getting the rental car has always sucked, I'm pretty sure.
Good luck with everything, David.
Wtf, msbelle. Good luck with the outside the department apps
Flight arrived at 7pm.
Got rental car after an hour long wait and just got checked into the hotel 9:45.
I had to drive unfamiliar Atlanta freeway roads in the dark, dammit!
Also, this room is weirdly averse to working outlets. There isn't one at the desk and the ones by the desklight don't work, so my phone is plugged into the bathroom and my laptop is plugged into the light behind the chair.
I really want to crash but my nephew is weirdly a minute away so we're meeting at the hotel bar.
