We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so very pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

One of my recurring ones is realizing it's almost the end of the semester and I've forgotten one of the classes I signed up for, never attended a single lecture, and of course it's too late to drop the class and it's going to wreck my GPA and maybe make me flunk out altogether.

That was basically my last college dream. With a bit of “when did the library get a skyscraper and atrium and where do I return those overdue books now?”

Our wings are not tired.

I've left the pleather pants behind and I'm ready to embrace the caftan life.

Name for Natter 78!

Delighted that I don't seem to have any school type dreams either as student or teacher.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

This should be the 2023 Buffista motto.

I'm in!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I took Matilda to get more piercings in her ears (so she now has three on each side).

She handled it well, and was feeling excited on the way home and then caught herself as we approached our house, and said, "Awwww, I was excited to show them to Mama."

Just a little twinge, but there will be so many of those.

Oof, David.

I spent several hours with a friend and his wife at the hospital today. She will be fine, thank the universe, but she hit a deer while they were riding bikes last Thursday night -- 10 broken ribs requiring metal plates. Surgery went great. He wanted some company and someone to tag team with him for a while today. Doing it again tomorrow. Her sister is coming back Wednesday. So glad she's doing so well. So glad to be able to help.

Love hearing smonster/Robby tales.

Actually, love hearing everyone's voice here. Or, seeing fonts, I guess.

I no lie bought a navy blue caftan with ivory embroidery to add to my burgeoning collection yesterday, am wearing it right now, and (say it with me...) IFG. Obvi was thinking about all of you as I got it. And how psyched I will be to wear it at caftanapalooza.

Because books.

It just hit me that at the last F2F I went to (SF!) I had a preschooler, and now I have ... adults. Gulp. Bring on the caftans!

Always Anti-fascist!

I get the feeling that one won't completely stop, Hec, but it will hurt less. Actual mom has said she expects her own death to be...somewhat stupid, ie, run over by a car full of clowns. "Go ahead and laugh if you need to," she says. "I would. Except for being dead."

Compassionately intolerant

JenP, I 100% said it out loud.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

And I can't find the Registar’s Office to figure out how to withdraw.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

A friend of mine said this on FB recently:

Grief does come in waves. Sometimes the waves just keep rolling, one right after the other and you feel you’re never going to get out of the wave but you hang on; sometimes the waves slow down and may only last for a few seconds but you know you were hit; sometimes you’re feeling good but whoosh you’re hit from behind with a surprise wave and get knocked over again. The waves don’t really go away but somehow you learn to ride the wave.

I thought it was powerful
