Here in DC, basically everything is closed on the 20th...the District is already kind of a no-go zone, with those of us just outside being told we should avoid going in if at all possible. Monday's a federal holiday and the federal gov't is closed on Wednesday, so most folks have written Tuesday off and I don't expect to see anyone until next Thursday.
Except maybe a friend of mine who is planning to project "I'M SURROUNDED BY IDIOTS" on the Washington Monument.
Oh, and there's a citywide cathartic scream scheduled for tomorrow at noon.
Citywide cathartic scream, what a good idea!
Oh right, I get Monday off too.
I get Monday off and am taking vacation days on Tuesday and Wednesday. Originally the idea was so that I could bask in the inauguration and generally reward myself for having written thousands of Postcards to Voters and Vote Forward letters these past three years. But now it's more that I'm going to be a nervous wreck until Joe and Kamala are safely sworn in...and then probably still after that, since it's not like the Trump true believers are going anywhere and there are way too many of them in the military, police, Secret Service, and so on.

I had one of my team in my office today telling me that she's been having trouble trusting anyone in a uniform since the coup attempt.

I live a block away from a police station, and it's not been good for my anxiety. On my run yesterday, I ran past 2 cops putting their kit in their car. One of them cleared the chamber of his shotgun (as he should, so yay for gun safety), and I went into a panic attack. So that was fun.
Oh juliana, no fun. I'm sorry.
I have cut down my news watching. Not total withdrawal, but trying to limit to a small dose 3 times a day. DH would have it running all day long, but I am winning the remote wars.
Holy Shirtballs, my boss is retiring in a month and did not tell me. The rest of Sr Staff was told yesterday. WTAF!
AND given where things are with (waves hands) and some big projects the Dept is working on, there is no way interviews and stuff are going to happen fast enough to have a replacement in before she leaves, so no transition. FUCK!
One of those odd birthday days when I have at least 4 friends celebrating. A dear cousin of DH with the same name as my son turns 49; he has 5! young children to smoother him with kisses. One of my dearest basketball sons turns 29. And an awesome family friend who is 24. All of them really sweet nice good people. It must have been a good day for birthing people.
