Joyce: You don't think it's too obvious? I think I look like I have a cat on my head. Buffy: But a very well groomed cat. Joyce: Well that's a comfort.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Smonster, she’s a big kid going into 2nd grade. Stubborn, opinionated, and way too smart. She reads up a storm, mostly middle grade graphic novels, and unfortunately has a little more than a touch of my anxiety.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

smonster, that all sounds awesome.

And sounds like generally good news from Tim, too!

Happy early birthday to ltc.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

That sounds awesome, smonster! I'm so happy for you and Robby both.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

You know how people say they married their best friend? I’m becoming best friends with my partner and it’s amazing.

How exciting! All of it. I'm so happy for you, smonster.

His incisions look beautiful -- very clean, no inflammation or drainage, just some pinkness where the staples went in.

Here's to good craftsmanship.

8 tomorrow!

ION, my youngest child turned 18 today. No more legal minors in this house. Which does feel surprisingly weird, actually.

She seems to have had a lovely birthday. We just got back from the cocktail bar, because now that she can legally drink hard liquor (here), of course she should.

Yay on happy couples and clean incisions.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

She's home.

For those of you who have been following the long evolution of Jacqueline's relationship with Emmett, which began with him mildly resenting his new stepmother, to grudgingly accepting her to actively appreciating Matilda's mother to their own playful dynamic - it was Emmett who carried her up the long steps in his arms into the house.

Raising her right! 18!

Jim, I don't know how you just let your kids grow up like that all willy nilly. Now they're adults and probably don't appreciate the Archies as much as they once did.

Now tagless for your comfort.

it was Emmett who carried her up the long steps in his arms into the house.

Oof. That one brought more tears.

David, I know this is so hard on you but sharing these bits just makes me feel…I don’t know…feels. And more feels.

In that weird, Japanese term for bittersweet or poignant that is untranslatable. Setsunai
