Oh, wow, way too much.
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.

Damn, Plei, that's a boatload of badness.
I'm home from the hospital -- poor Tim is having a lot of muscle pain, because the way his spine was curved for so long, his back muscles and core muscles on the right side got overtaxed trying to pull him back to center, while the muscles on the left were lazy jerks. So now that his spine is straightened out* the muscles on the right AND the left have no idea what the fuck is going on, so they're flipping out. Dilaudid didn't help, because it's all muscle spasm-y. They've given him all the muscle relaxants he can have for the time being, so they're adding Valium and a heating pad. He's honestly just going to have muscle pain for while, but hopefully drugs can at least dial the pain down from a 7 to a 2 or 3.
*He was lying in bed the entire time I was in his room after surgery, so I haven't seen him stand yet, but I think I'm going to cry when I do. You guys, his curvature was *so* pronounced. And now it's gone! Modern medicine is fucking amazing.
Tough transition for Tim's spine and muscles! You can do it, muscles! I believe in you. Streeeeetch.
I'm sorry, Plei. Sending whatever rope might suffice. When I read your post my mind went to the three wise monkeys. The teachings say that if we do not hear, see or speak evil, we ourselves shall be spared from evil. Not to get all Buddhist on you, but it popped into my mind that you could use a blindfold and earplugs for a bit.
Straight man Tim!! I do hope the drugs help get him through this transition. Also, yay science!!
Today is Shir's birthday. Sending wishes that her country gets its act together and gives her a much better year to come. Hope you are having a great day!
I'm glad Tim's first surgery was successful, even though the recovery period sounds un-fun.
Makes a person want to change names, go off the grid, and live in a yurt.
I know of a yurt for sale in NC. Just sayin'.
Happy birthday, Shir!
Happy Birthday, Shir!
I woke up with a migraine today (not surprisingly), so I'm waiting for the Ubrelvy to kick in before I go over to the hospital. But I talked to Tim on the phone, and his pain level is lower than yesterday, so yay, and he's already gotten out of bed and taken a walk around the hospital floor, so BIG yay!
Now go away, migraine.
Health~ma to your mom, Trudy. May the change in doctors turn up some very effective treatments!
Glad to hear Tim's surgery got such a good report, Steph.
Also glad to hear things are looking good for your mom, erikaj.
Me too, Matt. She's not a great patient.
I was going to say, are any of us great patients? but then I remembered 20+ years ago when I had ankle surgery and went in to get the cast taken off, and the staff was scolding a woman who had "converted" her non-walking cast into a walking cast by sawing off some of the bottom, even though she wasn't supposed to be putting weight on it yet. I'm definitely a better patient than that.
