'Day' is a vestigial mode of time measurement based on solar cycles. It's not applicable. I didn't get you anything.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Askye, I think she meant that it would be reasonable to look at jobs where you'd be making more than 15 an hour

Our wings are not tired.

was never a super regular user of Twitter but it gave me a way to interact with a lot more diverse set of people than I ever would have in real life. And I learned a lot of cool stuff.

Exactly!! Thank you Erika and Brenda and Laura and meara for chiming in; I actually felt a little self-conscious about writing so much about another online place in this online place! Thanks for putting up with me!

I feel so strongly that $15 should be the federal minimum wage, and I hope your next job is something you enjoy and pays you well, askye. (I recently spent a few hours on a site that compares wages and inflation for the last several decades and was blown away that the minimum wage I made at Eddie Bauer when I was 18 was basically like $16 now when adjusted for inflation!) So everyone who thinks $15 is too much for a federal minimum wage can suck it.

Matt, it’s really hard to be at the age where we just know a lot of people who have health problems, and I think most of us have hit that age. It sucks. It’s really hard. I always say that aging is the absolute worst reward for having survived.

Laura one day I want to visit your Otter Lake place. It looks so peaceful.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

The weekend with Mr. S went pretty well(other than him waking us up at 6 Saturday morning). No meltdowns at bedtime(although he didn't get to sleep before 10 either night. We need to work on that for when he gets discharged)

Yesterday was rather unpleasant, weather-wise. Didn't help that our ac wasn't working very well.(As in, the fan was working, but we weren't getting cool air.) Amazingly enough, turning the ac off for a bit, then turning it back on rebooted it, and by 3 am it was cool enough to get under the covers. Also, the power went out for a bit in the afternoon.(thunderstorms) Much more pleasant today.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Sometimes an a/c unit can freeze up -- and the moisture from the thunderstorm, plus moisture from humidity, makes it easier to freeze. Shutting it all off for a bit lets the frozen stuff melt and then it works like normal again.

Always Anti-fascist!

It's okay, Java. We can see other websites(and the vibe is completely different there, in both good and bad ways...it's not like cheating on us.)

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Health~ma for your mom, erikaj.

Hi, all. I’m back from my Denver work trip and utterly wiped out. I looked at my steps tracker and realized I’d walked about 3x as much as usual, an inadvisable amount in 90+F temps. It’s so dry in Denver I really overextended myself. But the Botanical Gardens there are pretty awesome.

We're busy with last-minute stuff to get ready for Tim's surgery #1 tomorrow (well, mostly to get ready for Tim to come *home* from surgery, hopefully Friday or Saturday). Tim's brothers came over today to help with some handyman projects that Tim can't currently do, which was a big help.

It’s so dry in Denver I really overextended myself.

My brother always grumbles "It's hot and dry in Denver because we're only 2 miles away from the surface of the sun!"

Heh. True facts.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

And an irreplaceable window into perspectives and viewpoints that don’t get a lot of air or depth, most especially for me Disability Twitter, J Twitter, and Black Twitter.

Yeah, Black Twitter has been really valuable for me to follow and read. (I don't really pipe in there, I'm just there to listen and soak up the perspective.)

I also use baseball twitter a lot, especially to follow and interact with local writers and analysts, as well as the minor league announcers for the A's affiliates (they're really fun!).

Classic Film twitter is another big stream for me, which is often where I'll intersect with Sylvie.
