Since this is a friend, and really for someone with the skill set a very easy task, I would say a minimal amount for a gift card. She would likely be uncomfortable with anything more. If you know something she would enjoy as a small gift, then even better. But yes, I would want to do something in return too.
eta: I do computer stuff for friends and family all the time and never expect to be compensated. Being told I am brilliant usually is quite adequate reward.
RIP Sinead. I hate this week.
So, the equivalent of a fancy coffee should be fine. It’s an easy task for someone with the skills, and just wanting to give a tangible thanks would be nice.
In other news, the first 90 minute keynote presentation is actually 2 full hours. FML.
Oh I hadn't known about Sinead until I saw msbelle's post. I went looking at the news and... I really hate NPR's article about her death.
I have started watching Star Trek Strange New Worlds, I had started but then got hooked into Lower Decks and got distracted. Unfortunately I realized after the fourth episode (the Gorn attacks episode) I need to be really careful about watching it because too many flashing lights. I didn't stop watching it and I'm paying for it with a mild headache and feeling nauseous. Stupid light sensitivity
Timelies all!
We have just arrived home. It was a good trip, for the most part.
Sunday was the end of the convention. The filk part of the con was well done, the rest was less so.
Monday we went to the zoo which was nice, then we had dinner with local filkers friends. Tuesday we went to the Canada Museum of Human Rights and the Manitoba Museum. Lots of walking.
Now it's back to reality...
Husband and I are both sick. My eyeballs are hot. I will test tonight, but I'm feeling pretty confident it's not Covid. Let's hope the power of positive thinking works; I just started a scene study class, and I'd hate to miss any of it or screw over my scene partner. Blergh.
The place I volunteer at is hiring. Part time position and a full time. The full time is a volunteer coordinator and the requirements I don't meet...I was talking to the manager and she asked if I was interested and we talked about it briefly. But I realized while there are aspects of the job I'd be good at and enjoy it would require a level of social and interpersonal interaction I don't think I would be good at. Plus there are no benefits.
But since the manager is acting as the volunteer coordinator herself I did offer to help her with some things as part of my volunteering.
We are going to see Barbie tonight with my son and his girlfriend. Got almost the very last seats int he theater. Yes, we will all be wearing pink. Look for photos later!
