Parade was great, sunscreen was effective, brownies are in the oven, and I am drinking so much water. Going up to the in-laws' house after a much-needed shower.

Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Brownies are finished, leftover noodle-y casserole thing has been eaten (with a ton of bonus cherry tomatoes), shower is imminent.
If I started work at 6:30, I can log off now, right?I'm going to say yes!
I accepted my formal job offer letter yesterday. I'm 99.9% sure I've got the job now, but I have been laid off before starting once. Hopefully, it will all be nailed down before I my next interview tomorrow and I can bow out.
Timelies all!
Happy 4th to all Buffistas in the U.S.!
We took Mr. S back to the facility after lunch today. There weren't anymore meltdowns after Saturday night, though we still had trouble getting him to go to bed at a reasonable hour. He didn't fall asleep until after 10:30 Sunday night, and fell asleep a bit before 10 last night. It didn't help that the nurse gave us half the amount of one of his meds. (He takes 2 pills twice a day, and they gave us 6 pills rather than 12.)
That seems like the opposite of setting you guys up for success, Sheryl.
but somehow M and I are doing the most executing. It's pretty simple just burgers and corn on the cob and chips. But there is a lot of micromanaging going on.This is why I hate when I am unexpectedly (now its expected but not disclosed to me.) put in charge of holiday meals - all of the micromanaging.
I really want a (as my nephew describes it) "gushy tushy" - but I'm daunted by doing anything with plumbing.
I installed one! Successfully! And then decided I didn’t care for it but could not figure out for the life of me how to reverse engineer the plumbing back so there it stays, taunting me.
My original plan was not to do much of anything today (family celebration was on the 2nd), but I ended up painting the border planks for my rock garden this morning, then applying a 2nd coat and painting my patio support columns while I still had the open can of paint this afternoon. Plus sweeping the patio, folding laundry, and jury-rigging a muffaletta for lunch, which was a lot of work for a sandwich but involves the tangible reward of eating it afterward.
My afternoon nap stretched too late for me to go see a matinee of Asteroid City, and I want to stay home after dark tonight so I can reassure the cats through all the fireworks. But I think I'm going to the Thai food truck's cookout for dinner when it cools off a bit instead of cooking at home.
Productive (holi)day! Nice, Matt.
We didn't do much, and that was as planned. Had corn and hot dogs (twice), and I made potato salad. Played some games, listened to some music, did laundry, cleaned the kitchen, like, three times... what is it with that place getting dirty every time we eat? So rude.
Now we're going to chill and surf until we go watch fireworks from the deck. And then sleep. With my noise canceling headphones on tonight, I think.
I emptied the dishwasher and reloaded it, which for me now counts as a huge chore.
Matilda is off to watch fireworks with a friend and Hec and I are alone, and I had thought vaguely about going out onto the roof to see what we could see, but I'm feeling a little wobbly and he has vetoed any roofgoing.
ION, guinea pigs like banana peels! Who knew?
If I were a guinea pig I think I would like banana peels. Hmmm. Generally roofgoing can cause wobblyness, no not a great plan.
Judi and I watched the DC fireworks on PBS, which combined with the noise of fireworks locally worked out pretty well.
