Thanks, everyone! I am celebrating by napping, mostly. Later Emmett will be over and we'll have some dinner and watch something (my choice, but I haven't decided yet). I finished conference, felt momentous, and then listened as everyone completely forgot it was my last time and just bickered their way into the next meeting. Ah, well. They'll feel some pain next week.

Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Happy birthday JZ! They will absolutely miss you....but I hope you get to do a little fun in retirement, between trips to LA.
Yes. This.
Happy birthday, JZ!
And belated happies to those I've missed recently.
I am just emerging from 7 intense weeks of a beast of a show. Opening was last night! All I want to do is nap.
Happy Birthday, JZ!
Alex graduated from high school yesterday evening. I surprised myself by crying--I rarely cry at all, having socialized myself never to do so after being teased for being a crybaby in first grade--not so much for Alex specifically as for the whole class. He went to the most alternative of alternative schools in this city, one of those quirky places where they don't hand out grades and the curriculum is as experimental as it can be while still meeting state graduation requirements. Something like 50% of the student body identifies as LGBTQIA, and it tends to be sort of a refuge for kids who just don't quite fit in or have had troubles, academic, personal, or otherwise, at other schools in the system.
And they were all so beautiful in their quirky individual glory. Since there were maybe 50 kids total, we got to hear little pieces of all their stories. So many of the kids thanked the school and teachers for believing in them, for not giving up on them. There was just so much joy, so much grace, in seeing those kids celebrate themselves and each other, that I had to cry with it.
That’s lovely Susan. I can’t believe Alex us so grown!
That's lovely, Susan. And congrats to Alex.
The birdie what whispers to me sometimes wishes to share the news that today we celebrate the day that David, aka Hecubus, aka Mr. Zmayhem entered the world.
Many happy returns of the day, David! I hope there's a fancy cocktail and some yummy food on the docket. Happy Birthday!
That's good to read, Susan! Although these wee babies graduating from high school continues to be disturbing.
Many happy returns of the day, Hec!
Happy Birthday Hec!!
And yay graduation for Alex
My Aunt W, who fell and fractured her hip, was doing well but then had some complications and got a UTI and is very sick. She's been taken to the hospital so Mom is going down on Saturday. She is waiting because E is at summer camp and she really wants to see him (and also she's reluctant to go down to Florida because the past few years have destroyed her relationship with her sister). It's all fraught and I'm not sure what all is going to happen with my aunt and I'm not sure how I feel about things. Sad about my aunt but also if something happens and she does die I'm going to feel relieved Mom doesn't have to keep driving back and forth and dealing with all of this and a sister who doesn't appreciate what she has done.
