It is weird hearing about smoke and bad air and not being in it. Masks and respirators help, if you have access to any - those masks with the valve that we aren't supposed to use for COVID are pretty sweet for smoke. It's one of those obvious things that I forget I can do so I am reminding those of you who are in it that it might be something to remember.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Yesterday was a surprise retirement dinner for my best friend at a Brazillian steakhouse. I got followed and accosted by a very aggressive panhandler on my way in, which I can't imagine working to solicit handouts. Maybe people who are scared of him throw money (rather than the punches I was tempted to)? Fortunately, good company and eating enough beef to satisfy a mountain lion salvaged the evening.

Apparently NYC has the 2nd worst air quality in the world right now. (I have to assume Quebec is winning/losing that race, since it is literally on fire??)
My sympathies. We've had at least a few weeks of that every damn summer since 2017. I would say you get used to it, but you really don't.
(Still decent air and blue skies here, though we're so much closer to some of the worst of the Canadian fires. The wind that's saving us is apparently screwing you.)
(ETA: Ah, you're getting the Quebec smoke, not the Northeast BC smoke. Gotta disambiguate the smoke. In my defense, Denver was getting the BC smoke recently.)
If the budget will stretch to such and you or someone you know has a membership, Costco has the BlueAir 121 purifier on sale until the 11th; I have one and it got us through last year's round of "We're number one! In sucky air quality!" If it doesn't, Corsi-Rosenthal boxes to the rescue!

The September Sneak Attack! I thought we were finally going to make it a summer without the hellsmoke. Nope. Nope.
Also, I guess we should get one of those.
Yes you should, and if the filters are on sale, grab one of those as well.
