Actually, I was thinking it would be sort of like a pet. You know, we could...we could name her Trixie, or Miss Kitty Fantastico, or something.

Mmmm, dishwasher! They are a most wonderful device. So are you in the rinse well first, or just toss them in dirty camp? Apparently, this is controversial.

I tend to rinse when I'm done with a dish, but I hear it's wasted energy when you've got a dishwasher.

My MiL is weirdly invested in the notion that I had the garbage disposal taken out of the sink. I don't understand why you can't just throw the garbage into the can. Garbage disposals (a) always break down and (b) constantly have silverware sliding down there.

Except for the glorious smell of ground lime and lemon rinds coming back up, I really don't like them.

Especially considering that SF does compost collection. You can get a kitchen compost bin that’s more convenient and less stinky than a disposal.

Agree on both counts. I have a disposal, but it never occurs to me to use it. Also, I have lived in Florida for too many years to do anything other than rinse dishes immediately. Paranoid about attracting bugs.

One of the great luxuries of San Francisco living is I can leave a spoon with honey on it in the sink and it won't have roaches on it two minutes later.

I'm a fucking amazing catch!--Fiona Gallagher, Shameless(US)

We never had great luck with dishwashers(Maybe the space isn't big enough or something?) but mostly there are just two of us.

Oooh, glad you're finally getting the dishwasher installed!

I was a rinser until I watched a Technology Connections on YT about this very subject. Now I am a happy non-rinser whose dishes come out sparkly anyway, because dishwashers... work. Vehemently a powder or liquid user instead of pods, though because of a different Technology Connections episode.

Productive day, yay! Fun class tonight, also yay, except I have homework to do that I haven't done yet. But it's writing dialog, and I don't find that hard -- I mean, it might not be any good at all, but I don't struggle getting the words on the paper for straight-up dialog, and I especially don't care whether it's good when the whole purpose is to practicing writing dialog to get better at it, if you get what I'm saying.

I completely spaced on a therapy appointment today, because I was getting a thing done for work, but she stayed on the video call, and I finally looked at the clock, and she VERY kindly offered to reschedule until tomorrow.

I have now set phone alarms to supplement my calendar notification on the computer which, apparently, I ignore at will, and I should probably change the setting so that it pops up no matter what. Grumble.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

A working dishwasher is a glorious thing indeed.

Especially considering that SF does compost collection.

That's the best, man. I'd love curbside compost collection.

Almost as good is that the city picks up yard waste every other week from April through the second week of January (so people with live Christmas trees can put them on the curb), and that is a goddamn delight.

My lower back doesn't want to stretch out despite me throwing yoga at it. V. annoying. Why even *do* yoga, I ask you.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

I need to take the vacuum cleaner to be repaired. It doesn't have much suction going on. There's a little when it's in floor mode, but none when I try to use the attachments.

Ours had this problem and Emmett started taking it apart and discovered it was clogged with hay from the piggy cage.
