I know a person who pronounces binary as BYE-uh-nary. It always catches me. Not BI-nuhry or BI-NARY. But as if there were another letter there in between bi and nary. I mean, it doesn't ruin my day or anything, but I think she's the only one I've ever heard say it that way.
I was responsible and made noodles instead of ordering in tonight. Gold star for me.
I also finished an onerous first email in a series today (onerous only because I made the task such), so I think the dam is broken and the rest of the series will flow more easily now, yay.
And now, we do the crossword puzzle and start S3 of The Mandalorian, I think? Two PP shows in the lineup right now. No complaints!
Um, if satiety is suh-TIE-ety, why do we pronounce satiated and say-she-ated??
See above Re: DUMB
I was so sure that I knew how to pronounce satiety that I didn't look it up, and I now see that pride goeth before the fall.
Not the only one with tattered pride on this one. I'm right there with you.
We should just change it.
I'm glad to have you all onboard!
I feel like with a little collective action we are well on our way to accepted alternative pronunciation
I finally had to ask about "LatinX", like, is the x silent? Because, I don't give a ton of speeches anymore, but here in the Southwest, some folks in the audience will be it.(I learned it's lateenex)
Just didn't want to be the one reading off the poster, right?
Off to see a SpaceX launch tonight. Send launch~ma or something because I don't want to drive up again tomorrow if it doesn't go. It is a 3 hours trip each way, although really I could see it from across the street too, but not with the sound and vibration and stuff.
We had quiche for dinner tonight, and I am fairly certain I did not mispronounce too many words, but if I did my family was polite. Made a crab variety and a ham quiche. I didn't try the ham but had a massive quantity of the crab. Yummy.
Timelies all!
Remembered that I had a massage thingy(kind of a strip rather than a seat) so I dusted it off and am using it to work the knots out of my shoulders,
I was not responsible and ordered dinner in, because I’m going on vacation tomorrow and because I got DashPass back in December for ordering for a group, and it goes up in price (or isn’t free anymore? I forget) next week, so I figured I should use it before then (…so I ordered $40 of food? Yeah well)
I was responsible and made noodles instead of ordering in tonight. Gold star for me.
I made the opposite choice.
Seems like this is pronunciation day all over. [link]
It’s like we’re all very stoned
