oh my fucking god, fuck health insurance in this country forever.
This.
I went on a 3-day hiking trip this weekend: with 5 other people I walked from the Sunset District to Stinson Beach, with overnight stops in Sausalito and Muir Beach. Much altitude was gained (and lost!)
Thank sounds so awesome. I wish I could get off line for 3 days, but I haven't been able to figure a way to do that yet.
NEXT weekend, I have plans for dinner with friends on Sunday*, and Matt starts a musical theater class at the Theatre Lab in DC. Fun! I'll be taking a playwriting course with them online starting in April. Again, for fun. We're not planning to run off and try to join the circus. Yet.
Plans and activities! Sounds like lots of fun.
Oh, on the weekend cousins get together, they all have dogs, none of which made the trip so Skinner was the lone puppo, and he was totally spoiled.
I’m already so hungry which SUCKS. Bone broth, Gatorade and water not cutting it.
I’m planning my meals tomorrow. All the food.
Tomorrow is my colonoscopy
Damn straight!
Matilda is off to the beach with her friend Iris' family.
We're prepping for JZ's brother and his family to come visit this weekend. They're coming in late Thursday, leaving Sunday morning, and will spend much of Friday with other family in the East Bay. So really we're only going to have Saturday for them but that's fine.
Today included plenty of adulting. In addition to the regular paying job work, I:
- took out the trash and put the dumpster at the curb (before realizing it wouldn't be collected on Presidents' Day)
- had my tax returns printed for recordkeeping
- stopped by the plumbers' to approve their work proposal and leave a $2100 deposit
- found and replaced the missing dowel for a falling bookcase shelf just before I would have MacGuyvered a substitute with a wooden cube and superglue
- rolled up a set of bath towels and stowed them in a storage bag under my bed, and
- unpacked and hand-washed a box of dishes.
Today included plenty of adulting.
Full points! You're a grown ass man!
Happy Paczki Day! I went to Dunkin’s to celebrate (yeah, I know, but real pączki are thin on the ground in central NC) and said “happy pączki day!” to the checkout person. She was like, “Happy . . . Packsee day to you?” And I told her that pączki day was like Polish Marci Gras and they celebrated with special jelly donuts, and ordered a couple. She handed them to me and said they were on the house because she loved learning a new thing. So I’m celebrating free jelly donut day—one of the best days of the year.

Indeed! Well done.
So I’m celebrating free jelly donut day—one of the best days of the year.
Sweeeet way to start the day!
I'm celebrating Paczki Day in my heart but not my belly, because I'm pretty sure gluten-free paczki don't exist. And Tim's blood sugar was high on his last blood test, so he's ruthlessly cutting out sugar. Everyone else will need to eat extra paczki on our behalf today.
