Tell Jen I say hi, if you get a chance to.
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Yay plumber, yay garden apartment, fingers crossed for chemo. Yay Jen K and Emily!
Jessica I really want a new bathroom and am very afraid that if and when I ever get around to it that will be the outcome. (But also….finding a contractor and making those decisions and living through construction sounds like way too much work—can someone else just make all that happen and I’ll write the check?)

This is where we are. Our sad bathroom needs remodeling desperately, and we've budgeted for it, but we can't quite get our shit together to plan it and pull the trigger.
Speaking of the bathroom, while I was waiting for articles to edit, I cleaned the aforementioned sad bathroom, washed a load of towels (including folding and putting away), made blueberry muffins, washed the dishes, took out the trash and recycling, and now I really really need to shower, but I should do some yoga first. Although now I kind of just want a beer.
Timelies all!
Sleepy...
Timelies all.
Blah. I have a cold, and a slight fever. The rapid Covid test is negative, but I made an appointment for a PCR test tomorrow, just in case. I don't teach on Thursdays, but might need to find someone to cover my classes on Friday, and that is going to be such a pain.
We found our fabulous contractor through Juliana's husband, Martin.
If you don't have Juliana's husband in your city, I recommend you talk to somebody (perhaps a real estate agent you trust) to recommend somebody. They usually have a list of people they like to work with.

It me! Between indecisiveness, executive function and the thousand little things that keep coming up, this project has been getting bumped for about three years now. (In the course of which quotes have risen considerably). I’m determined to do it this spring.
We discovered lots of fun leaks we didn't know were happening before! The subfloor under where the toilet used to be is almost black! Hooray!
Speaking of things coming up! This time what I thought was a pipe that froze and burst at the Wisconsin house turned out to be a joint in the original plumbing that corroded through. Fixing that led to the discovery of another leak and a possible issue with the underground pressure tank from the well.
All of which was actually much less of a problem than it could have been because we’ve been cutting the power to the well when we leave, so that we don’t have to monitor the weather or worry about (full circle) the freaking pipes freezing. So there was no water running through the system, and especially no water running through it for days or weeks before we were around to see there was a problem. But still a costly hassle that required two different companies to resolve.
And I did find out that my plumbers, who I like, are now also doing electrical and carpentry so maybe the bathroom thing will be easier.
Please wave some of the good plumber~ma my way, the plumber I called should be arriving any time now. Hopefully I will at least have a fully functional toilet and bathroom drain before the day is done. A working dishwasher and a washing machine that doesn't flood the laundry room when it drains would be bonuses, but I'm not counting on either.
Here's hoping, Matt!
I still have my stupid cold, am still WFH, and am now afraid it won't be gone by the weekend. Booooo.
Boo that sucks Jesse. Good luck, Matt!
I told myself since I was on time and needed to pop my moms birthday card into the post office drop box I should get coffee too. …I got the coffee and forgot the post office part (it’s next door). Argh! Should’ve already sent the card anyway and now it’ll be later. Daughter fail.
