Wash: So, two days in a hospital? That's awful. Don't you just hate doctors? Simon: Hey. Wash: I mean, present company excluded. Jayne: Let's not be excluding people. That'd be rude.

move out and draw fire

I said, "Eh, not much" but couldn't keep a straight face. He has the news on now.

Thrive to spite them

I had to put my phone in my locker because I knew I wouldn't be able to keep myself from checking it every few minutes.

I'm so pissed that the police are just barely doing anything. And of course I tried to talk to M about it and he thinks it's all wrong but keeps calling them "a bunch of idiots" and acting like this is no big deal.

So now I'm in the office on the computer with Penny because the other cats were attacking her and we are kind of hiding out in here.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

OMG - the DH came downstairs to greet me and asked "so what happened today? I decided to not watch the news."

That actually made me laugh-out-loud.

Oh and one of the assistant managers has been out for almost a week "sick". I mean I put sick in quotes because I'm highly suspicious it's covid but this is someone I rarely interact with. I really need to figure out if I can find a place to get tested like every week or something.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

JZ wanted to take the tree down the other day.

I said, "I don't think I can take the tree down until after January 6th and the certifying of the Electoral votes. Also, that's Epiphany. I want to get past that first."

Tree is still up.

Hah, my tree is still up because I’m lazy and it makes me happy, but I like your reasoning too. (I was using epiphany and then was going to call it lazy after that, but yeah)

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

We always keep our tree up until the Epiphany. My grandmother used to call it “little Christmas”.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I self-soothed with My 600Lb Life, which is running a new season. It's a guilty pleasure that I have no explanation for.

It's early, so I haven't looked at the news yet.

Punishingly Intricate

We are also keep the tree up through epiphany people. Or I am, because raised Catholic, and Bob is because I care. Also we both like having the tree.

We have white string lights outside all year and I'm hoping some of my neighbors keep their outside lights up longer this year. It would be cheery to have them all winter.

Librarian Warlord

We kept some string lights up all year after last Christmas, and we, and our neighbors just referred to them as the COVID lights. We'll keep them up until . . . I dunno.

We are three blocks from the DC line and about 5-6 miles north of the Capitol Building. Lots of helicopters last night, and police cars outside the houses of the House Rep and Senator that live in the neighborhood all night (at least they were there when I walked the dog last night, and this morning).

If you haven't read Jamie Raskin's statement about the suicide of his son, it's an amazing read. [link]
