Apparently if you're enough of a power nerd, there is nothing that cannot be flowcharted.

Lunch with Dad was good, although we had one somewhat awkward moment: Dad was facing the door, and I had my back to it, and Dad asked me "What's your Mom up to these days?" It sure seemed like a question out of the blue, but I told him she's still teaching yoga. Then he said, "Well, I asked, because that woman over there in the black coat looks like your mother." And there was a group of 8-10 women by the door, at least half of whom were wearing black coats. From my angle, none of them looked like Mom, and I just mumbled something like "Oh...kinda, I guess."

Then the group of women got seated, and as they walked through the restaurant, it turned out that it was, in fact, Mom. I just had a shitty angle to see her group, but Dad was correct. (Tim said later, "I feel a little bad, because I assumed your Dad was doing that thing where he's still pining for your mom, so he was imagining some skinny woman looked like her — but it really was her!") So while Mom's group was being seated, I got up and went over to say hi, so that she didn't see me first and come over to our table, because she wouldn't want to bump into Dad by surprise. (She was also surprised by me, but happy to see me. She did, however, say "If your Dad wants to come over and say hi, please discourage him." Which, fair.)

Anyway — awwwwwwkward. (But also kind of funny.)

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Argh. My friend was supposed to come over to help me put up my shelves the second weekend of January. this is important because my shelves are also my desk for working at home. I have a temporary setup, but it just fits the ocmputer and monitor, so there's no place for me to write anything or for the printer.

He got COVID, so couldn't come for a while. I checked in, he was still willing, but wouldn't commit to an actual time. Was supposed to come yesterday "after 1" I texted him to say I would be home at 1:15. He texts me a few hours later to say that he fell asleep on the couch and could we do it today. I say what time? I'm home after 2:30. I text him around 4 to ask for his ETA. He texts back over an hour later to say that he was waiting for me to tell him I was home. ARGH. So he wants to do it next weekend. I was like fuck it, you're unreliable, I'll get someone else to help.

I made it to my parents’ place late Saturday. Spent the day shopping with my sister and napping (migraine) and we picked up a new chest freezer for my parents, the plan is to cook them a bunch of food and freeze it. But when we got it into the garage and unboxed it, there was a huge dent! So now we gotta take that back. Meanwhile my sister and I are sharing a room on a very uncomfy bed and an air mattress and I can’t fall back asleep. Argh. Gotta work tomorrow.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Frickin' cold in SF this morning! 40 when I woke up.

Off to run anyway.

Thrive to spite them

Steph that was funny and awkward but it makes a great story.

My face has been really red the past 2 days. The house has also been really hot and I kind of got overheated at work but I'm also wondering if maybe I'm having a side effect to the antibiotic I'm taking. I looked and it doesn't seem like that's a side effect/allergic reaction. I was going to run over to CVS but I realized the pharmacy is closed for their lunch break so I'm going to head over there in an hour or so (they should be opened back up in a few minutes but there is always a line) and ask the pharmacist's opinion.

Apparently if you're enough of a power nerd, there is nothing that cannot be flowcharted.

askye, I'm (unfortunately) getting a lot more sensitive to different medications the older I get, and it's pretty common for me to get flushed pink/red on my face/chest/arms when I start new meds. I just take some Benadryl to calm it down, and so far (knock on wood), things settle back to normal after a couple-few days. But it's a good idea for you to check with the pharmacist.

The things you should never ignore in terms of drug reactions are hives, a rash (which is different from flushing), and obviously any kind of swelling of your airway/tongue.

Thrive to spite them

Steph, I briefly thought about messaging you for an opinion but I googled the antibiotic (I can't remember the name and I'm too lazy to go find the bottle) and it has a really low rate of allergic reactions and I wasn't having anything that was listed as serious. Just the super flushed face and feeling overly hot.

No trouble breathing or rash or anything like that. If I had I would have done something sooner.

I know the last time I took sulfa antibiotics I had a reaction (So I don't take them anymore) but I turned bright red down to my chest and I think I was itching.

Thrive to spite them

Well that was quick--apparently the only line at the pharmacy was the drive through.

According to the pharmacist this is "flushing" and while it's a reaction it's not anything like an allergic reaction since I don't have any rash or itching or trouble breathing etc. She offered to call the dr about having a different antibiotic but since it's not an allergy and I don't want to deal with another prescription and possible reactions to that I'm going to stick with this. She did suggest taking aspirin a couple hours before I take the antibiotic to reduce the flushing so that's what I'm going to do.

I mean if it gets really uncomfortable or bad I'll contact my dr but this is just like the overheated feeling I was dealing with on the anti depressant and being easily overheated so it's in the realm of tolerable .

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Glad to hear that, askye, but it's still got to be annoying!

Frickin' cold in SF this morning! 40 when I woke up.

Ha! That was our unseasonably mild temperature this morning! We haven't had much cold here yet, but it's going to be -8 or some shit this weekend.
