Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Vortex that would be awesome.
David I hope that the broken window is the extent of the storm damage for yall with all this weather.
I haven't felt great the past few days. Not sick feeling just blah....possibly just pms.
Just had some rare thunder and lightning in SF.
I vividly remember the first time I saw fireflies (Lincoln, NE, 1988) and the first enormous thunder and lightening storm I experienced (Post Peace March where we got ALL the weather) in Rockville a few months after I left San Diego. I never knew such things existed growing up within visual distance of the Bay Bridge.
Best of luck to all, in every category! Weather, ~ma, healing, growth, etc.
He was supportive and it went well, and it makes me think things may be looking good for the move, since he was the one to bring it up.
That bodes well.
I hope your mom is doing OK, askye. And I’m sorry about your window, David, though if it had to happen, better that one than one of the curved ones, I guess? Cold comfort.
I am having trouble buckling down to work today -- though I did a solid mornin of planning, which did need to be done but is also a form of not actually doing the things. OK. So. I'll commit here to two hours of work with at least two finished documents (they're short) at the end. Deal, self? Deal.

I'm waiting on an article to edit, so I put laundry in and made some cornbread to go with chili for dinner tonight, and now I'm about to do some yoga. If I don't have an article after that, I seriously might take a nap.
That all sounds delightful, except for the waiting for the article part. Good use of waiting time, though... gold star!
I have yoga-ed and put the towels in the dryer and taken trash and recyclables out to the bins. Still no article. But now I'm too awake for a nap.
There’s a nice tribute to Kate P’s mom in the January 2 Publishers Weekly that just made it across my desk.
I've been texting with Mom she's said she's feeling better and mostly sleeping and staying hydrated.
M's mom's Covid test is negative so that is good. Unless it's false negative but EVEN better! She is actually staying in her room and resting , etc . However I think I'm getting a cold. I'm starting to feel congested and kind of rundown but not like when I had Covid or the flu (at least not yet). And I'm also wanting to layer up .. it seems when I'm feeling sick I just wants lots of layers and to be wrapped up like a burrito as much as possible. When I had Covid I used multiple top sheets since it was hot and I couldn't layer under as many blankets as I wanted to.
I was accidentally kind of mean to one of the cat's. I was in the kitchen and heard this awful yowling and looked out and thought I saw Lovey on the porch all puffed up and being aggressive to Scrappy, so I scolded him and ran him inside. And discovered Scrappy was curled up with M's mom. Turns out it was the black cat that belongs to someone behind us that Lovey was getting all growly at and not Scrappy. Not Our Black Cat and Scrappy look very much a like (I broke them up about to fight the other day and it took until Not Our Black Cat ran off to realize which was Scrappy).
We have an orange cat, as (sort of) do one of our neighbors (he's...roamy). While we were out of town, our friends tried (and possibly succeeded. The details are fuzzy) to get (not)our cat back into the house.
