"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

We are all finally healthy here. knock on wood

Teacup goes back to school on Tuesday and TCG goes back to work the same day. Meanwhile, I start with a new therapist tomorrow because my old therapist left the practice.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Glad to hear you're settled into MN, Gud!

I preferred Knives Out to Glass Onion, though that may partially be the casts. But White Lotus covered a similar sort of vibe and better for me.

I'm enjoying the re-watch of Wednesday. It really is a Dark Academia Hogwarts story and I'm down for that.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I feel like Knives Out will continue to hold up over time. I'm not sure Glass Onion will age as gracefully. I enjoyed both though!

Our stage manager shared some fun facts about ACC '22 in the closing report: Out of 53 performances we did 14.5 with the full company. 32 different cover tracks went on at various times for outs and the domino effect. 2 covers went on in roles that were not part of their original cover assignments. 24 consecutive shows with covers on, our longest streak. 1 show hold for a car on fire.

Happy New Year everyone and happy birthday Susan W!

Seconding the wishes for health and peace for all here: it's hard to believe how long we've all been trucking along together. May 2023 be better than the last, as the song says.

I'm back home after 4 nice but crowded days in the mountains, where it rained and we had 7 people and 5 dogs (well, 4 good dogs and one friendly tornado). Thank god it was nice today and we got out to do some snowshoeing, and I learned how to put the chains on my car.

The rain has been pretty epic and it's coming back later in the week. There have been evacuations in the Central Valley because of levee failures. It's a lot.

Oof, that is a lot of rain, Consuela. Glad you had a fun visit, though.

Today feels like a free day. I like it.

Our wings are not tired.

Ick on the too much rain. Stay high and dry!

How did the new year's sermon go, Susan?

JenP - Jan 02, 2023 9:37:50 am PST #19733 of 30000

Cleaned out the downstairs closet, under the kitchen sink, and gathered all the paper shopping bags to donate somewhere. Productive morning!

Now, I have lunch, and read. I'm really enjoying reading again!

My do fun things mantra for the year is, "Read, build, paint."

Build=small things, not, like furniture. Paint so far is acrylics with an online patterns course.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

How did the new year's sermon go, Susan?

It went well, I think--I even had one of my fellow vestry members ask me if I was discerning a call to the priesthood! (I'm definitely not. I think I enjoy preaching because it's a form of writing and storytelling, but one year into my three-year term on vestry I'm already counting down to when I'll be free of all the meetings and arguments and budget-fretting. If you're a priest that's just part of the job, and in general I think I'm too much of an introverted lone wolf type to do well in the role.)

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

There’s probably no nice way of saying, I find it too icky to read a trashy romance novel written by a former teacher, but I do wish you luck in your future endeavors, is there?
