You know, it's funny. We went to war never looking to come back, but it's the real world I couldn't survive.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I’ll have to see what’s available peep-wise next time I go to the store. We’re also having a Thanksgiving potluck in our department on the same day at the same time because everyone I work with has lost their damn minds (I cannot blame them for that) so hopefully I can bring turkey shaped peeps or something for both

I thought the drawing was Wednesday, so there you go.

Also, never been to Altadena.

Thrive to spite them

Laura I'm sorry that your house is torn down.

I wanted to ask one of the poll managers about the time limit and what if someone needed more time...for example if they had a learning disability or some kind of physical issue that made it hard for them to move their hands quickly but I didn't because I also didn't want to give anyone a reason to kick me out if I seemed confrontational.

I am going to see if I can find out more info. There were only 2 measures besides just the voting . I don't know if SC has a lot of things to vote for regularly.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I went to vote. One of my friends was volunteering at the polling place, handing out Democratic sample ballots. I saw her offer them to two people who both said something like, "Never in my life would I want one of those." She said that not everyone was like that.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Voted this morning and got an "I Voted" sticker, which fell off later in the day. Gary left work early to vote, and is home now.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I ended up not making an offer on the house. Even if the seller accepted the offer my realtor and I discussed, it still would have ended up with an uncomfortably high monthly payment based on what my mortgage agent told me today. Back to trolling Zillow.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Oh Laura, that is so much.

In 5 years it might be in our living room, which would make voting SO EASY, for me at least.

Growing up, a wee Cass had a polling place in her living room. I couldn’t vote but I loved that everyone else could.

Laura, I share your pain

My Dad built the house I grew up in. It’s two miles south of where I live now. Squatters lived there a while after he sold it and it’s honestly a tear down now. The outside doesn’t entirely betray it but it’s so ugly and sad to see a beautiful home destroyed.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

It’s hard when people don’t recognize the value we put into our homes. I’m sorry.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Brenda, holy shit! I heard Mary Dixon mention that on my way to work this morning but didn't realize that you were *right there*.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Between candidates (so many judges!) and ballot issues, there were 31 races to vote on, and there is no way I could have done that in 3 minutes. I'm boggled at the 3-minute rule.
