You're wrong about River. River's not on the ship. They didn't want her here, but she couldn't make herself leave. So she melted... Melted away. They didn't know she could do that, but she did.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Last night I went to Trader Joe's and committed Pumpkin Palooza. Old favorites include cream cheese, ice cream, and coffee. Among new items we have two soups, a pasta sauce, a braising sauce, vingegar, yogurt, blondies and an aray of cookies. The one thing I wanted and missed was pumpkin madelines because c'MON.

Then I totally partied and took my COVID-recovering butt home in a cab 'cuz that shit was heavy.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, gang!

It is unfortunately a working birthday; I felt taking it off at the end of a week-long vacation when I have deadlines already being moved back would be a bit too much. But I'm treating myself to a viewing of Bros tonight, then going out for my birthday dinner with Mom tomorrow.

Our wings are not tired.

I did have a pumpkin martini last week. I don't remember what all was in it other than pumpkin vodka and brown sugar on the edge of the martini glass. I feel I deserve much credit for only having one. I ordered Brendon a pumpkin coffee concoction too, but knew that was going to be too sweet for my taste.

That ice cream is so fucking good. Pro tip: put mini chocolate chips on it.

And related to that, Tim just sent me to the quickie mart because he wanted (1) pretzels, (2) cherry cordial ice cream, (3) whipped cream, (4) sprinkles, and (5) a bear claw. An ice cream sundae is in his future.

I still have 4 more days of antibiotics and steroids for the sinus infection, and while the steroid munchies have kicked in, the antibiotics are making my stomach extremely unhappy to eat anything but dry toast. This is super unjust.

So unjust! May Tim thoroughly enjoy his sundae, and may your belly settle enough to let you indulge as well.

Mona and I are having popcorn for both lunch and dinner today as is our custom on hearing days.

I have repeatedly committed Full Pumpkin at TJs. The ice cream is good, the mini cones are only good if you like white chocolate, the maple popcorn is addictive, and the tiny chocolate cake with mousse pumpkins are amazing. Also, pumpkin Kringle.

Also, pumpkin Kringle.

We got one of those, and Tim showed amazing self-control by cutting it into pieces, wrapping the pieces in waxed paper, and freezing them to have them occasionally.

I can confirm that the gluten-free pumpkin muffins from the bakery table at TJs are good, and the gluten-free pumpkin bread mix makes a tasty loaf with a ginger-y bite. The gluten-free pumpkin pancake mix is fucking fantastic and I bought 3 boxes to hoard. The Greek pumpkin yogurt is, as always, awesome.

Every time I've gone to TJs they haven't had the gluten-free pumpkin bagels or the pumpkin-spiced pumpkin seeds, dang it.

That's a yum order from the quickie-mart. I said it in FB, but I hope you share progress reports with penguin progress pix.

Where are you going to dinner, Matt? I love your dining reports.

I've decided that swimming in the afternoon is my jam (as opposed to morning). So I'm trying to restructure my day to work from 7:30a-3:30p (ish), go to the pool, then come back and be already decompressed from work. I mean, sometimes maybe do some more work work, but try not to.

I think it'll be good, because I am prone to getting sleepy around 3p/4p, so I can give my brain a rest. And mornings are usually pretty productive if I sit down and do stuff.

I guess it's a siesta kind of day. Solid choice for a large part of the world, so I will be freaking glad I have the option to try -- and go for it.

Teppy, honey, you are married to an android. All these "hospitalizations" he puts you through are software updates in the CIA's sooper seekrit cincy lab. I'm sorry. Now that you know, however, you can ask for the language package because that's just great to have.

Ooooh! Me toooooo.
