Very scary Laura! Two of my main coworkers are in the Tampa area and were sending emails earlier this week prepping for not having power or access….
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I tried to get my sister to go over to the east coast and stay with my MIL, but she wouldn't. Trying to get my brother and family to go stay with my sister in a block house, but chances are he won't go for it either. Brendon and I have always been in agreement that if it is going to get to 3 we leave. It is almost 5 now. Not good. eta: brother probably can't drive anymore at this point anyway
Oh, man, Laura, I'm sorry they didn't get out... assuming they could have. Sending all the good stay safe vibes their way.
Safe vibes to all the Floridians.
I keep watching one of the Ft. Myers local channel's live stream. Not looking nice for Sanibel & Captiva islands. A few years ago a storm cut one of the islands in half. I don't think the eye is crossing them, but very close. My sister Judi has a solar system to heat her pool that is like black cloth with tubes through it to heat the water. It has come loose and is slapping around against the roof to drive her crazy.
Ian looks pretty scary. I'm glad it's not hitting Tampa Bay, as some earlier projections suggested. But its current trajectory looks bad enough.
Loving the Katrina flashbacks. Waiting for disaster is not fun.
Super scary.
What the fuuuuuuck.

My friend C's mom lives on Sanibel Island. She's evacuated, but she was in negotiations to buy her condo, and now she's worried everything will be gone when she gets back. It's terrifying.
