Anyway, to celebrate not having to bake in a toaster oven anymore, last night I made a broccoli quiche. Right now there is a lemon poppy seed loaf baking, and later I am making chicken parm and roasted cauliflower. Woo, oven! Looking forward to the loaf since it is keto made with almond flour and such. The batter test passed.
I missed my oven so much when it was out of commission for six months! But I did learn that it's better to reheat pizza in an iron skillet than the oven.
That lemon poppy seed sounds scrumptious.
We've got a rainy day in San Francisco and I am here to report that it is Most Pleasant to curl up in the turret windows with a hot drink and a book to read while the rain is lashing down.
Absolutely true that the only way to reheat pizza is in a skillet. Alas, the lemon poppy seed loaf was kinda awful. Sad to waste 6 eggs on it. Will likely toss it. Sad indeed.
Rainy here too, I love visualizing you all comfy in the turret window.
Jealous, although it's no longer so hot here as to conjure a bedroom community for Hell.
I never thought I'd be this age.
Reading in a turret while it rains sounds delightful.
There’s a local coop that has a big wine tasting twice a year. It got hosed by the pandemic for a couple of years, but yesterday it started up again. I joined a friend there, and it was so nice to sip wine outside on a sunny fall afternoon.
Timelies all!
Happy Birthday Erika!
Gary is home now, I am exhausted and the last few days have been chaotic to say the least.
Happy belated birthday, Erika! So good to see your font. I hope this is a wonderful year for you.
Today's what do I have in the fridge for lunch combo worked out well. Leftover roasted cauliflower, half an avocado, sun dried tomatoes, feta cheese, and a bit of balsamic vinegar. This salad made my taste buds and belly quite happy.

That sounds great!
The contractors are here bright and early, hammering away. Did my morning run as soon as Matilda headed out the door (late, as is tradition on Picture Day).
Oh, I look forward to the pictures!
We had the hammering and sawing this morning too, at last. The workers stayed away for 10 DAYS because that is how long they read the virus can hang around, despite them working outside and us being inside. And negative. Anyway, they are back again today, but it will be raining all afternoon so the 2 hours they were here this morning will be it for the day. At last they are paid by the hour? Frustrating, but I'm trying to stay chill about the things I can't control.
