Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.

Ohio has a "filial responsibility" law — it's a first-degree misdemeanor if a person fails to provide adequate support for an aged or infirm parent unable to provide his or her own support. I don't know how enforced it is in practice, but in theory it sounds like a way to force adult children to care for their abusers.
Pennsylvania has the same and nursing homes have absolutely used it to collect on debts, even if you weren't a guarantor and objected to the placement. Teppy, if your budget will allow, I would heartily encourage you and your brother to consult an elder care lawyer and see where things stand financially; you don't want to be surprised.
Jen! Fashion shouldn't hurt! Feel better soon.
Zoomy plane~ma, Lisah!
And ...I have covid. I kinda have felt like I had some minor symptoms yesterday . I went to the lawyers bur I was there for less than 5 mins distanced , masked so.
M's mom is about to go out somewhere for the 3rd time today. She was on the phone with a friend who got onto her for going out with Covid and M 's mom just made faces at the phone.
Take care of yourself, askye.
I am. I ordered some tests kits from Walgreens, 8 sets, so I'm giong to the drive thru to pick them up. M's mom did take another covid test which , is positive. As she was sneezing and then coughing she expressed surprised at still having covid but she has refrained from going to the library to make copies of something.
I'm sorry, askye.
M's mom is going out knowing that she has it? Wow, that's... wow. No love for her fellow humans, it seems. Unless they're in the library? Yikes.
I hope your case is mild, uncomplicated, and short.
My Bonne Maman jam advent calendar arrived! ….now to see how long I can hold off on starting it. There’s no way I can eat 24 tiny jams in 24 days, so I need to start earlier, but how early?? My lack of patience will eventually win.
24 jams in 24 days is A LOT. I can tell you from last year. But it’s fun too.
Teppy I’m so sorry things are playing out so awfully. You and your bro don’t deserve this.
I hope it passes quickly askye.
Murderpants! I have had many a close call but they haven’t got me yet. Ouch.
Pretty sure I could go through 24 tiny jams in 24 days without trying very hard, so I don’t know what to tell you, meara.
I guess this will interrupt your going back to work plan, askye. On top of the actual being sick, which I hope is not too bad for any of you (although I do hope M’s mom feels bad enough to understand that she is sick and maybe should stay home…)
Two more kids are coming to ltc's kids party!!! (1 friend and 1 sibling!) Woo Hoo!
{{{Teppy}}} I'm so sorry, that's such a difficult position to be in. Do you think he is even taking the medicine that was helping him in the hospital even at the lower dose? Any chance you can convince him to move to an assisted living situation?

I think he probably is, but my brother thinks it's not close to being a therapeutic dose for him.
Any chance you can convince him to move to an assisted living situation?
That's going to be a really hard sell. But there are services that can help him in his home, and he might be more likely to agree to those.
