Skipping over a bunch of posts to say that we had dinner with flea tonight, and ltc adored her. Also my baby is turning 7 tomorrow! How?

Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I saw the notice of ltc's birthday in the Nilly calendar and it really doesn't seem possible. I hope she has a lovely day.
Yay vacation and pain relieving stretches!
Did lobster pizza at a local bistro and then campfire with family and friends at the lakeside. Tired now.
If anyone wants to go on vacation in like, late October, lemme know. I need to plan something.
Someday, once I've left teaching, I will actually be able to take a vacation outside of the busiest and most expensive times of the year.

Aren't you due for a Sabbatical?
Aren't you due for a Sabbatical? That's a college prof thing. K-12 teachers don't get sabbaticals, alas.

Yes, but when the professions were codified, teachers were predominantly female and professors were predominantly male. Women are supposed to work long hours, for little pay, and no time for intellectual expansion (intellect? in those pretty little heads?) because it's all For The Children. Professors are doing serious mental work and need to be supported in it, dontchaknow.

ETA: Did my bitterness over institutional misogyny kill the board? Sorry.
Heh, no, I think it's just Thursday.
The house across the street just went on sale and it looks amazing. This house was in terrible shape a couple of years ago, but the people who moved in did a spectacular job. Probably a tad overpriced, but I wouldn't be surprised if they get it with the current market. [link]
