He seemed fine with car trips when he was younger, and I only noticed it at thanksgiving when we were driving some curvy mountain roads. But since then, even going straight he’s sometimes panting. I don’t know if maybe it’s something about my new car (which I got at thanksgiving) that feels worse to him? Anyone have dog car suggestions?

Our wings are not tired.

Dogs are able to take Dramamine, which can relax him and/or calm nausea.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I've seen birds' nests being built before, but this is the first time I've seen a drey under construction: [link]

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Nifty. I never think of squirrels as building things, but why wouldn’t they?

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Another late night with Mr. S. Slept in this morning, but the work week beckons...

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I briefly worked in a second-floor office pretty close to some trees and there was always squirrel activity going on. One time we watched a young squirrel work on a nest in a place that wasn't going to support it, and when he finally put too much weight on it and the thing disintegrated, he glared down at the ground because the sticks and leaves had failed him.

That fits my idea of squirrel skills and behavior.

He got off easy. "Gravity works!" can be a painful lesson -- and one of Robin Williams's many memorable lines.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

My dog hated being on the boat. And isn’t loving car trips either, which sucks.
Call your vet for their suggestion for Rory. But that sounds like motion sickness.

Cass yeah I think it is motion sickness in the car. On the boat it was more “we are surrounded by water and you want me to go in and I don’t want to and it’s hella hot but I don’t like when you pour water on me”

I just went to a knife-sharpening thing a friend set up—she’s trying to start these “skill shares”. Not sure I will retain anything about how to sharpen a knife but I did get several things sharpened and bought two “new” knives he’d presharpened and brought with. $75 for two knives, sharpening four kitchen knives, and sharpening my gardening clippers and loppers! And I learned you can also get nail clippers sharpened?!
