Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, I'm glad my main in-person friends also became text-thread friends long ago, so we still have that on the regular!

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Karl, it's always good to see you. Checking in is a good thing--do it more!

Katie, I'm very sorry about Pearlie, but I agree that's the best way for an aging or an ailing being to go. She was happy, you done good.

I missed the zoom, I'm sorry. I've not been people-ready for a while. You're all the better off for it, believe me. But I was thinking about all of you, and Ed.

There is homemade vegebarleybeef soup for dinner. It's been cooking and torturing me with its heavenly scent for .hours, and there's about another hour to go before it's ready. There will be just us two for Thanksgiving. We have a small spiral ham, and the usual veg. Probably Moose Tracks for dessert.

StY's birthday was yesterday. He got an air fryer and is excited to try it out.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Oh no! I just lost my whole draft.

Reinsent, msbelle.

I have kitty tricks if needed. Just e my profile address.

Complaints about non-mask-compliance in workplaces are being routed to state OSHA.

I'm going to test first Monday after Thanksgiving on the grounds that a coworker was allowed to take three weeks to the east coast, went on huge wedding and tons of households. She came back to work the day after she flew off and has not worn a mask except to walk outside to clients. Not inside.

Before she came back, I asked if she was quarantining. Then no mask? Yeah, this is going to be fun.

KB, my condolences for Pearlie. It says everything that she wanted to be with you when the time came.

I am no longer employed as of this week, so I may change my name back...there have been weirdnesses around the combination of working for my particular client and being online since, oh, 2016, but lookslike that will be moot very soon.

Thrive to spite them

I'm sorry KB for the loss of Pearlie.

Cass that is just.. infuriating.

This year continues to suck. Mom lost her best friend, Lorrie, to ALS last year. Lorrie's other best friend helped out a lot and she and Mom never really knew each other but they became closer during this. A few months ago the other best friend was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer, and this morning she passed away.

Volans, I hope not being employed is a good thing and not a bad thing??

How is the weekend already over? Do not like.

Herding cats for fun

Sniff. You guys. The best. Your kind words have touched my heart and made it feel better.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

One of our residents was due for her dialysis treatment yesterday -- usually it's a M-W-F schedule, but it's all shifted because of the holiday, so I came in for two separate hours to take her to and from. I'm only a ten-ish minute drive from work, so it was not too onerous. But somehow it does throw the rest of my week off conceptually -- the thing with T-Day sitting there in the middle of the week wouldn't have helped anyway I suppose.

Mixed bag. I hated that job, but I would have appreciated more warning. I have one other contract right now, but yeah, I'm trying to find a new gig.

I am guardedly optimistic that the ~ma worked! I spent all the daylight hours this weekend at the vet's, and they identified a number of things that it wasn't, but no idea what it was. After 4 days of not eating or drinking, she'd lost 15% of her body weight and subcutaneous hydration only gets you so far. The vet gave her some Pepcid yesterday and an appetite stimulant, and we used a dropper to get some broth into her, and that seemed to turn the tide. I stayed up with her last night, giving her broth and then shifting to tiny amounts of wet food, and now she's eating and drinking like normal.

SO relieved.

Great kitty news, Volans! What a relief.

I'm up and making breakfast. That's about all I've got so far today.
