I just found out my uncle is in the hospital and not doing well. Non-covid. In addition to concern for my uncle, I'm unhappy that my dad is now out and about (including in the hospital) dealing with this instead of safe at home with my mom.

I made crabcakes, most of which I brought up to my Mom, but I kept one back for us to try last night but we were way too full.

Yes, it was a car bomb. Early reports made it sound like an apartment building was wrecked, but I haven't seen that confirmed anywhere. It's... rather unsettling. Nothing known yet about who or why.
Shir, I'm so sorry about your Batcat. I hope you're taking care of yourself today. And aurelia, I'm sorry to hear about your uncle, and I hope your dad stays safe.
We spent close to six hours opening presents with various family members: stockings, breakfast, and the first round of presents at home, then down the street to my MIL's house* for a bigger breakfast and another round of presents, then back home to Zoom with my FIL and then my parents and brother, with more gifts each time. I'm ready for a nap now!
*We are sort-of-bubbled with her, since she broke her knee in Sept and has to have daily help with things like scooping the litter box, going to doctor's appointments, etc. We wore masks except while eating (and seated far apart from her) and had a couple of windows open.

I had a Christmas miracle. Mac called and really talked with me, even asked girl advice. He is supposed to FaceTime his grandparents later and I really hope he does. I have had virtually nothing but caffeine and sugar today. I need some real food.
