Angel: Connor, this is Spike and Illyria. Guys, this is Connor. Connor: Hi. umm...I like your outfit. Illyria: Your body warms. This one is lusting after me. Connor: Oh...no, I--I--it's just that it's the outfit. I guess I've had a thing for older women. Angel: They were supposed to fix that.

Punishingly Intricate

And M and his mom went shopping and of course it was busy and of course they are using that as a reason why it's ok to go and eat and share a small closed space for hours.

Huh? That makes no sense. I'm so sorry you have to put up with that, askey, and that you have no choice in your work.

4 of my husband's 7 nieces (all in MI) have had COVID now and his one sister and her husband. I don't know what most of the nieces have been up to but his sister and her husband have been plenty cavalier about following any kind of pandemic guidelines. They had dinner inside a restaurant a couple of weeks ago for her husband's bday, right before they tested positive. It's pretty infuriating. But at least his other sister and her husband and, most importantly, Bob's parents are taking it seriously. And my family all is.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I'm sorry, askye. I wish I could think of something you could do about it.

I ordered a ridiculous amount of food on the expectation that it will last me through the long weekend. Have had potstickers and wonton soup today, don't think I will need to touch the entrees until tomorrow

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Okay, we've done the socially distanced bestowal of gifts with various family members, picked up a pizza, and now we're home and not leaving the house until Saturday (it's supposed to be stupid cold tomorrow).

I’m sorry, askye. That’s so frustrating.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Here, it is stupid cold already, and we are headed for single digits. Won't be above freezing again until tomorrow afternoon.

I'm staying in. And planning hot chocolate for (a late) breakfast.

Ooh I should add hot chocolate to our menu tomorrow. It was like 60 today, and rainy, but temp is supposed to drop a ton tonight.

I'm eating trout dip and watching Bob shuck oysters. Not bad!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm eating trout dip and watching Bob shuck oysters. Not bad!

Sounds like a plan.

We just ate JZ's Spanakopita for dinner, and I'm drinking a martini. After this I will finish wrapping presents and we will assemble to watch Elf.

As with Thanksgiving, we drove to the midway point between Emmett's place and San Francisco (the parking lot near Moylan's Brewery in Novato, if you're interested) where we gave him:

His stuffed stocking (with a tiny potato)
The Ultimate Manhattan Cocktail Kit (an exorbitant amount of money spent at BevMo)
Presents for Emmett
Presents for Emmett's GF
A full pan of lasagna I made yesterday
A bag full of Delicious Things That Smell Good for Xmas morning (Cinnamon Rolls, Bacon...)

We met in a parking lot, outside, with masks, hugged briefly, and then went our separate ways.

We'll do a Zoom call tomorrow morning with him and EM as we open stockings and presents. And that's how we roll on Xmas 2020.

What is even happening?

What's trout dip, Lisa?

I've done a lot. I don't think I have too much left to do, but I might have to whip up some more sauce in the morning The plan was to let the sausages, meatballs, and sauce that I made up yesterday sit in the slow cooker until dinner.

After assembling lasagna, I'm not sure I have enough sauce left to do that (mostly because I have so many meatballs and a dozen sausages). I'm glad we're just doing a ham with it, rather than a full turkey or roast beef dinner like some years.

I think we're gonna watch a movie, as soon as C finishes his wrapping (some of the gifts he ordered arrived late).

J & C brought some presents by mom's place. B & I will do so tomorrow (I forgot to send a few of mine with the kids).

I don't feel like it's Christmas Eve, though. I feel like it's 12/23 instead.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My sister is coming over tomorrow, and we've ordered Chinese food for lunch and planning to watch a movie (though we haven't decided which one -- my mom said no to Wonder Woman 1984.) I'm not sure I'll be able to eat much of the Chinese food besides the rice -- all the articles about gallstones say not to eat anything greasy, and my stomach still isn't feeling great. I'd planned to make a vegan quiche for dinner, along with some hors d'oeuvre type things, and my sister is making mulled wine.
