"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Here's wishing you the flu, Tom? Get well soon, in any event.

Overall it was an enjoyable broadcast, a welcome return of Broadway. Though I was dismayed not to get my customary annual check-in on Angela Lansbury's health. Particularly since she was apparently awarded a lifetime achievement Tony in absentia but that wasn't broadcast. I hope she's okay.

I know nothing about A Strange Loop except the bits I saw of it during the show, but those seemed inferior to all its competitors in the Best Musical category. I get that the premise has an important message, but shouldn't the winner also be, y'know, good?

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Home sick with a 100° fever.

Ugh. That happened to me back in March. Turned out to be a 24-hour GI bug, not Covid or influenza, so yay?

Best wishes for yours being a non-event also, and that you feel better soon.

Stay hydrated.

Home sick with a 100° fever.

Ditto on hoping it's a random, non-Covid, non-serious bug that's short-lived!

{{Scola}} I hope it passes quickly with no lingering effects!

'Flu~ma, Tom?

I had a weekend where I made stuff I'd been putting off for a while finally happen. I got the dryer vent cleaned out, which made a huge difference in clothes drying time. I cleaned mildew out of my dishwasher, took care of some unexpected family estate stuff (unexpected because the people involved have been dead for 12+ years), and today I booked my flight and car rental for my Labor Day trip to my sister's place. I'd been putting off the last one because I'm still trying to get a job in MI, but I'm coming to terms with the idea that that won't happen this summer. And I really needed to book before rising fuel prices made the tickets even more astronomical.

My dad called to tell me that if I was going to get him something for Father's Day, he has a list of books he would like that are about aliens who colonized the Earth long ago (to be clear, these AREN'T fiction books), so I could get him one of those books.

I figure it's harmless wingnuttery, so okay, he's getting books about aliens.

Way to go, Calli!

I feel like I was accomplished this weekend although all I did was go to the gym and the movie theater (and the mall in between movies - have I mentioned that we have a tattoo parlor at the mall now? And there was a coming soon sign for something with Axe in the name which I am hoping will be an ax throwing whatever you call those places), but it kept me in air conditioning on a hot day.

That does seem like a fairly benign channel for wingnuttery

Right? Might as well lean into it.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

When my niece was a baby she had no hair and strangely adult proportions and an elderly neighbor would say she was "an ancient alien." Sis and BiL mostly found it charming.
