I 1000% do not understand Discord at all

I've been postponing the "understanding how this thing works" for lack of spoons, but it looks like the saner alternative to Twitter. Maybe I'll give it a try in the holidays, a few months from now.

Got my daily “how’s it going? Need anything?” Text from the resort office this morning. Told them how much we like the cabins and that we would be back next tournament and asked for trash bags and coffee. The response was very nice.

That is awesome. I have to tell you, we get groups of teams here in the past that have kept us on our toes. You have a great group of young men, whose parents should all be proud, and we don't get to always say that. Great job with these boys. I will have housekeeping bring over some more decaf coffee. Is there anything else you need besides trash bags and coffee?

I am really terrible with Discord. I've joined several servers but it can be really confusing because there are so many channels and my brain just gets overwhelmed. I mainly just pay attention to the minecraft server discord.

I read the worst take on why the Uvalde police acted the way they did - because they were afraid of "monday morning quarterbacking".

Gary took Mr. S to the aquarium this morning, where he acquired a stuffed octopus. Mr. S has also made slime and hula-hooped, and is now making a castle out of egg cartons.

I accidentally took myself out for brunch. I meant to get pho and lemonade for lunch, but that places was closed, and the second place had a long line so I ended up at a place with mimosas included but I did not expect them to bring me FIVE. So that was followed by a nap.

Teams is just terrible Slack. Dischord I have no reason to understand.

I am not a Crackpot (TM Sarah D. Bunting) What I don’t understand is that our school (within the University) mandated that we all be logged on to Zoom all day and be available for chat (which no one does). But our IT department and Registrar department (which work across schools) were already using Teams. SO now I have to have both on as well as monitoring my own email and three group emails, just in case someone has an urgent request. I was never not responsive to email so this just seems inefficient and distracting. Please just email or call.

The funniest part of this “mandate” is that it happened AFTER quarantine because some teams found it helpful. My team tried Zoom chat in April of 2020 and everyone hated it except me and just kept texting me anyway. Also there are only 2 staff members on my immediate team (and like 9 faculty members) and the faculty members do not have to use either if they don’t want to- and none of them do!
