My deepest apologies, but of course you do need new things.
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
It is officially bike to work day. I am, of course, working from home, but I did ride down to the train station and back, and got a Bike to Work tote bag out of it, so that's nice. The e-assist thing will take some getting used to, I don't really feel in control of it yet, and sharing the road with cars remains scary (I thought there would be not many cars at 7:30 on a Friday morning, and there weren't many in comparison to actually busy streets, but there were more than I wanted!) but it's a start! The train station is a third of the way to the gym, so that gives me an idea of how hard that will be (and the rest of the way is on dedicated bike paths, so other than crossing a couple of roads there is much less to worry about in the way of cars). That'll be my interim goal before trying to actually bike to work which is pretty much all on streets without actual bike lanes or much shoulder but the same distance.
Your ring sounds gorgeous, JenP!!

Zoom! Look at you go.
Emmett and I are attending a memorial today for one of his old baseball teammates who died at 25 in a ski accident. It's giving me lots of feels. Not least because I'll be seeing a lot of people I haven't seen since 2014 (and that was a reunion in itself, since the team won the championship in 2008).
I was able to print and frame a picture of that team that I can give to his parents.
Oh, how sad. That'll be a nice gift.
Niece is missing her her stage debut because she tested positive for COVID.
She's pretty crushed - but she's vaccinated and we're all safe. Yet again, let me say, not getting the damn shot BEWILDERS me.
Thanks, all! I'm very happy with it.
David, I'm so sorry. That is just heartbreaking beyond measure. It's a lovely gift, the photo.
-t!! Go you! Fantastic! I am following your biking saga with interest.
In my own fitness news, I'm working with a trainer at the community center, and she is awesome, and it's going well. She's great about getting that I'm still in PT for the shoulder and working with that.
meara, definitely new thing worthy!
ETA: that stinks, Trudy. Bah.
Wish me not expiring from the heat tomorrow during our big charity bike ride!! Fortunately, msbelle will be here to rescue me, just in case.
Timelies all!
The weather this weekend here will be July. Highs in the 90s. Fun, fun, fun.
In the space of the last 32 hours I've found out that the co-worker I was paired with on my main project is in the ICU, that my landlord is urgently trying to sell my apartment, and that Mom's brand new refrigerator is on the fritz yet again. Enough, universe! Take a coffee break or something.
In less stressful news now that it's done, I wrangled Little Meg to the vet Wednesday and she's now recovering nicely from being spayed, with a clean bill of health on all tests. Kudos to the two vet techs who managed to extract her from my car after she broke out of the carrier and initiated a game of whack-a-mole with us.
