I have a third viewing of EEAaW tonight. Woo!
I was sharing pieces from the store with Ple as we were there. Prompting her to gasp "Furniture porn! What is this place?"
You were torturing me with beaaaaaautiful thing! Torturing!
Poor L lost the bulk of her spring break (and her birthday) to... a cold. Not, thank goodness, COVID (multiple negative tests, including PCR, and same for the person who she caught it from), just a damn cold, but apparently, if you haven't had one for a few years, they hit like a damn truck. So that's been fun. (She said this morning that she feels like she's been speedrunning being sick. Went from meh to miserable Tuesday, better than meh to miserable with a slightly damp cough yesterday, and is now at "well, the cough is better and the fever's pretty much gone, but now my nose is stuffy AF" stage.
Aw, bummer! Though, glad all tests were negative.
We were supposed to go to my MIL's for the first seder, but now Gary's going to pick up food from her and I guess we do a Zoom seder.
Boo colds! I did multiple covid tests and I think I just had a mild allergy to east coast spring, and even that little bit was enough to remind me I hate being sick and have not missed it these past two years!
I am on my way to a soccer game but it is collllld out!
Enjoy the movie t!
Msbelle, $500 still sucks though. Sorry.
I am glad Toddson is being looked after, but it is scary as a singleton who is aging.
Man, I was having this conversation with one of my freshman advisees recently, about how figuring out what style writing the professor is looking for can be half the battle, and there is no good way to know! Sucks.
There is a way! It is called a rubric! It is called Instructional Design. Although I would not be lying if I said that my strength as a student was figuring out which professors liked word vomit and which professors like good citations! But it is my job helping professors figure this out.
ETA: you can’t take away subjectivity, but it you see someone give more weight to “original thought” than proper citation, at least you can make a guess.

Honestly, the biggest thing I learned for College Writing was to shove my paragraphs together. I wasn't actually writing any more complex thoughts! But it looked more like College Writing, so OK.
It was an excellent movie and everyone should see it as soon as possible
Th biggest thing I learned was to use quotation marks around my colloquialisms. Remember- this was the 90’s. But I wrote a whole paper that was lauded about how Sei Shonagon who wrote The Pillow Book was a “bitch”. And then I deconstructed “bitch” and got an A. And the rest of my life has not gone that smoothly so I would like to return to writing papers.
