I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Scola posted on FB that he's okay.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I think Scola is our only Brooklynite and he's not particularly close to where the shooting happened.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Hec, that makes sense to me, although at my school you had to be a senior and over 18.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Back in my day, only HS seniors were allowed out of the school building, but not off school grounds, and we had to sign out.

Thrive to spite them

I think at my high school jrs and seniors were allowed to go off campus. Since our school was both part of FSU and on FSU campus that got a little weird about where the campus lines were drawn and we had access to FSU libraries so there were legit reasons why a jr or sr would be on FSU campus On Wednesdays there was some kind of flea market thing at FSU near the food area.. and a lot of students went there during lunch. At some point we were banned from going there., but only that part of FSU (I think) But we could go anywhere else. There was also a...I don't know what the building was now....up the hill by Tennessee St ...and it had vending machines so the other popular lunch was to send someone who could off campus to get stuff out of the vending machine.

The school was building for classrooms and walk ways but nothing between the buildings closed in. Our lockers were in the stairwells and there were gates to close them off (and close off the stairs ). And where our school was located a lot of people walked through there to either their apartments or parking after football games so you really really didn't want a lower locker downstairs by the gate. I don't know how often it happened but occasionally drunk guys would stop and piss right in that corner.

But then they built a new campus and tore all of that down.

At the school my brother went to...I don't know what the rules were for off campus but I know some people could. However, I don't know how often anyone went because parking was such a premium.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

It's quiet here...maybe too quiet.

In much less awful news, but annoying for me...my fridge has stopped fridging. Freezer still freezing, but no cold in the fridge. I tossed a bunch of stuff tonight, put some stuff in the freezer and I am about to cook up stuff.

Left a message on the appliance repair place answering machine and am hoping for a repair rather than replace. BUT in order to be prepared mentally I am pricing out fridges. DO.NOT.LIKE.
