I'm back in the hell of trying to communicate with workers comp. I left a message with a supervisor and if I don't hear back by Wednesday I'm going to hire the lawyer. I just can't spend so much time waiting and hoping things get done.
Also I'm at mom's and helping her clean and organize. She called the lawyers regarding J, since they are working on his behalf. And she glat out said that his mother needs to take custody of him as soon as she can because Aunt Wanda is in no shape mentally to care for anyone. And she really isn't. She shouldn't be driving either but that is another can of worms.
Oof, that's rough, askye, and good for your mom for being forthright.
sj. Cupcakes. That's a brilliant idea.
{{{askye}}} I'm sorry that workers comp is being so difficult for you. It shouldn't be that way. I'm glad you can help out your mom.

Thanks! We try to celebrate whenever possible, especially the last couple of years. I picked up some soda bread for us while I was at the bakery.
Thanks, all. It does help to have your support.
Waiting for scans, and then waiting for the results of scans, and then waiting for the consult to review the scans, is stressful in and of itself. In my support group, we call it "scanxiety."
They did some major juggling and got me in for a CT this afternoon (which is going to cost me over $1700 on my out-of-pocket cost - *with* "employer-provided" insurance. But universal healthcare would be bad, apparently. Grrr). But looking at the patient portal this morning, someone cancelled my follow up appointment with the doctor tomorrow morning. Cue me frantically messaging while pissed off at how crap they are at communication. (Though I just this minute got an automated "Covid-19 pre-screening" call, so some part of the system is still expecting me, apparently).
The patient portal is called "Follow My Health" and they all refer to it as FMH for short. I'm not sure how much is their fault and how much is you guys' influence that it's become "Fuck My Health" in my head this morning.
That's definitely news worthy of a freak-out, Epic. Health~ma to you.

I don't understand how doctor's offices are so bad at this. My botox will be five weeks late when I get it next Monday. They called yesterday to schedule the appointment, and then the same person called today with the literal same message.
Apparently the Dr has been scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning. (How they schedule a surgery during office hours is a head-scratcher. It can't be "emergency surgery" if it was scheduled 36 hours in advance, right?) And the fact that they cancelled a follow up for a FRIGGIN CANCER DIAGNOSIS without immediately reaching out to me to re-schedule (and maybe apologize) is kind of infuriating.
JFC, Epic. What a pain in the ass.
