So M's nephew's girlfriend is in labor. She's 17 (I think) a senior in high school at least. Yesterday morning her water broke and now it's been over 24 hours and still no baby. The last I heard this morning she was finally at 7 cm (this was a few minutes ago) I know there is a big group video chat going on with all the anxious family members but so far no update on the baby.
I can't remember the middle name but her first name is Adalay. I think that is the spelling. I like the name although it's gotten a few kinda of side looks. Even if I didn't like the name I still would lie through my teeth and say I liked it and pushed back on any negative comments. I personally hate when people are negative about baby names. At least no one seems to have been like that to the nephew & girlfriend directly.
Yeah, it’s the sense that this was the culture and atmosphere and there was no one to go to about it that is really upsetting.
So insidious. Yuck. And yeah, I’m not as shocked as I should be.
JZ is off at the garden apartment in our new place with a just-out-of-the-box Shark vacuum cleaner and a rented Rug Doctor, and Matilda is off to GG Park for a friend's birthday.
Emmett and his girlfriend, Kalena, will be moving into the garden apartment come May 1st and I'm excited to have them living in San Francisco. A dream for both of them that never seemed likely.
Once we move into the new house, they will slide over into our old apartment. (And then the garden apartment will be open to guests, and used as a separate social/work space within the house.)
We met with our tenants and a window specialist yesterday, and we're fixing all the beautiful curved turret windows which have dry rot. An expected cost when we bought the place, but we're getting to it quicker than we expected. Should be all done before we move in.
The contractor said, "It's expensive now but this work should last the rest of your life." And I'm good with that. Next stop: new gutters.
ION, Matilda got the hoped for/expected job offer to repeat as a summer camp counselor with Parks and Rec. That's great news and that locks her into activity and money from June to mid-August.
She's had money all school year from what she earned last summer.
I can't over how fast this house happened for you guys, David! It's so exciting.

We saw it on a Tuesday and we were in contract by Saturday! I actually like that we're not moving in until June. It's giving me time to adapt, and we can do some repairs and interior design and shopping. We've had money squirreled away for when we got here and now it's like, "Okay, I guess we're buying a couch now."
Timelies all!
It snowed this morning. That's just the cherry on top of the crap sundae that is today. Woke up a bunch of times this morning and of course my brain wouldn't quiet down. Then Mr. S was up and active before 6:30.
Tomorrow I have to go into the lab in the morning after losing an hour of sleep. sigh...
looks for online link to reserve garden apartment
I can't wait to see you moved in, and how wonderful for Emmett and Kalena too!
Visited the marina today. OMG, they have everything. Dog park is right next to where we will park. Pool, spa, exercise room, computer room where internet is best with printers and such, tennis, racquetball, car wash, nice restaurant and bar. You name it. The few people we saw on the docks were all friendly, including a guy nearly as tall as DH who immediately invited him to come on board and see the headroom on his boat. I am so ready for marina life. They even had a cat strolling the docs. The young woman in the office was super friendly. Ahhhh
That's a lot of ugh, Sheryl.
I'm not looking forward to time change. I suck at acclimating.

That all sounds perfect for you both! I like good news. It's been in short supply.
