Pix, continued good thoughts are headed your way.
Natter 77: I miss my friends. I miss my enemies. I miss the people I talked to every day.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, butt kicking, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Oh, that's wonderful news! You'll be seeing a lot of me on all my trips here, Laura.
You know we have a berth and deck for you anytime. I hope you are able to get some things settled this trip.
I hope the rest of the trip goes smoothly, Kristin. Dementia is so hard. We didn't have to suffer through it long with Dad because the brain cancer was so fast. But it is brutal.
Stable electrolytes not being my friend, I just ate a banana. I bought the bunch with a Black Widow sticker on it because clearly fruit is best chosen based on Marvel sticker.
My mouth and throat felt funny after I ate it. This has happened once or maybe a few times before so a Dr Googling we go.
Allergic reactions to banana vary widely and may include itching of the mouth and throat, hives (urticaria), swelling (angioedema), and wheezing.
Symptoms are most closely related to oral allergy syndrome, with localized symptoms in the mouth.
In most cases, symptoms begin within minutes of eating the fruit.
Cross-reactivity between ragweed and banana is known to play a role. If you have a banana allergy, you also may react to natural rubber latex.
Latex is produced from the sap of the rubber tree, which contains similar proteins to those in bananas and other related foods, such as kiwi and avocado.
Well, let's tally these up. Ragweed allergy? Check. Banana? Appears so. Latex? Yep. Kiwi? I just thought they were super acidic and made everyone a little tingly but maybe that's an allergic reaction now that I apply critical thinking skills. Okay. List done. That was fun.
I'm going to go tape Benedryl to my bananas now. Apparently Black Widow needs a hand.
Your smoothy options are gravely diminished.
Thanks for the colon -ma. Looks like good news. Weird, lumpy mass looks to be benign, but, of course, we're waiting for pathology. Still will require a small bowl resection, because if anything bad were to grow under there, they wouldn't be able to see it. Still have to figure out the pain, and we're still seeing the specialist, but huge relief for today.
Boo for lumpy mass but yay for benign?
Also boo for allergies. Yeesh.
Today is going very slowly. It’s not even noon yet. Wtf. And my dog is being a weirdo and barking at his food just now? Huh?
clearly fruit is best chosen based on Marvel sticker.
On the one hand, yes, clearly. On the other, I apparently have pretty strong negative associations between bananas and spiders so the Black Widow sticker is making me shudder a little. Unexpected!
Eta: Also, glad it's benign, I hope the pain gets figured out very soon and can easily be treated!
Woes on the allergies. I just recently read a mystery short story where that cross-reactive allergy played a role. Good story. Bummer experience.
Weird, lumpy mass looks to be benign, but, of course, we're waiting for pathology.
Woo! All ~ma for the benign to be confirmed as well.
What the heck, Rory? Why the food bork? Here we have perfectly normal bork reasons. For instance, I made a keyboard noise, doggo borked fool head off as if home invaded.
So we're getting this bed for the MCM garden apartment: [link]
And this sofa bed, which also has that vibe: [link]
Yay, benign-ity!
Pix, I hope that tomorrow is a better day for your father's approach to medical care.
I'm glad Matilda had fun with the softball game.
I'm going to a theater tomorrow with a friend to watch Adrienne auf Naxos. It's one of those simulcast things of a live performance at the Met. Kate Lindsey isn't in it, but you can't have everything. We'll be masked, and I expect there to be maybe four other people in the room. It's one of those big, floofy chair places, so plenty of space between people. So I figure it's not too big a risk. This will be my first time in the theater since The Green Knight last spring.
