"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Thank you, all. And Steph, I'm sorry to hear about your friend.

Batcat made it through the night. Vet told me she is looking better, but we're not out of the woods yet. She'll remain there today and if she's stable enough, will go through another procedure to check her stomach tomorrow. Because of COVID I can only see her and enter the clinic for ~ten minutes a day to give her pep talks.

Again, we're not out of the woods, but I was quite certain she won't make it through the night. And now I really feel the consequences of ~4 hours of sleep in the past two nights and constant stress over this. Cats, man.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Friend and Friend's dad both have Covid-induced pneumonia. Worst gift with purchase EVER. Friend will be in the hospital for at least 1 more day, but maybe 2, while they start him on steroid and antibiotics for the pneumonia.

Ann, that's a ferret.

~ma for the humans and kitties (and doggies, although none have been mentioned) that need it.

For me, it's an infusion week. The nurse should be here in a few minutes to stick the needle in me and keep track of my vital signs. I'm still on my feet, so I'm not complaining. Also, it's human contact, which I don't get much of these days.

Ann, that's a ferret.

(40 minutes later)

So, not an infusion week after all. The nurse couldn't find a good vein to stick the needle into. Which means I'll be getting a port. The hope is to have that done this week, so the infusions can be done next week.

Sigh. In the immortal words of Rosanne Rosannadanna, "It's always something."

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Well, that sucks, Fred. I hope the port makes things easier.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Good news on Batcat. Fingers crossed.

I'm sorry about your friend and their father, Tep.

And that's a drag about the port, Fred. Whatever's necessary, I guess.

Is it solstice yet? I'm ready to turn back towards the light and out of the darkness.

That doesn't sound like a fun morning, Fred. Hope getting the port i easy and having it helps!

Best wishes for your friend and family, Tep

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

David, Solstice was at 2:02am. Today will be a fraction of a second longer than yesterday.

Thank god the days will get longer! I really can’t handle the sun not coming up until almost 8am. Hard enough to roll myself out of bed with the gray and the wet. (Though to be fair, I think the dark has somewhat helped the puppy not be awake at unreasonable hours? He still had to use the bathroom at 4am but otherwise was quiet until 7am when my alarm went off)

Woohoo, increasing daylight!
