Huh. Apparently my brother has avoided being taken up by the immigration police for the past year and a bit (he was arrested for overstaying his visa last December) and has now got a job in Dallas. So he’ll be in the US for the first time in 18 years. I can’t wait to hear the culture shock. (He’s crazy right wing and it has annoyed the crap out of me that he talked such shit despite….not actually living here??)

Although, I must say, I personally know a comparable story that goes in entirely the opposite direction where the wife connived and successfully was a golddigger, had everything she aspired too and then Broke Bad and lost it all and went to jail and lost custody of her kids.
